I like when my beauty boxes arrive early, and LMdB has always been on top of that, giving me shipping notification for the next month as early as January 15th! February Vault VIP box is all about glamming up for Valentine’s day, and all members received two nail polishes and a lipstick [colors vary for each subscribers]. I got my Nail Lacquer in Red Lodge and Cocoa Cabana, and the lipstick was in Bali.

HOW IT WORKS
As a Vault VIP for $348/year you will receive a full-sized product or assortment of products every month, curated by our Beauté experts. Members of The Vault will also have the opportunity to try exclusive, limited-edition items and pre-releases of the brand’s latest and greatest before anyone else gets their hands on them.
The sign ups will become available again only in July 2014.

Nail Lacquer in Red Lodge and Cocoa Cabana – I’m not crazy about reds, because they’re a bit too “classic” for me, but it’ll still be fun to try; however, the cocoa color is right up my alley, since I adore chocolatey hues for winter. I have to test these more thoroughly, so the full review will be up in a separate post some time next week. Right now I can say that I love the bottle design, it reminds me of glass paperweights 🙂

Le Metier de Beaute Colour Core Lipstick in Bali: top – lightly patted on, with clear gloss; bottom – two thick layers

Colour Core Lipstick in Bali – Now here’s the color I’m confused about. I think the shade is too dark for me, but I made it work by patting it on my lips first, then applying a layer of clear gloss [I used C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine]. The formula is an absolute delight and feels so creamy and smooth on the lips, that’s why I really wish I had gotten a different color, so that I can actually wear it every day. The coverage is full, but as you can see from the pictures, it can be a bit patchy, due to that creamy consistency. This particular color does leave a slight stain on the lips [all reds do], but it was very easy to remove with that makeup remover they sent us in January. I made a vampy makeup look to share with you guys, so you could see how dark it looks on me. I applied the lightest foundation I own, and dusted my entire face with a white highlighter powder. Casper white!

On the lips – Colour Core Lipstick in “Bali”: I think it’s a bit too dark on me

PRODUCT RATING
Color Core Lipstick in Bali – 94%, A
Formula 10/10 | Application 9/10 | Pigmentation 9/10 | Longevity 9/10 | Product 10/10

THE VERDICT
The lipstick color was obviously way too dark on me, but I can make it work if I mix it with clear lip gloss. As for nail polishes, I will reserve my judgment until I get to wear them for a few days and see how they are. I’m reeeallly hoping that if we get more color cosmetics in March, they will be in slightly more wearable colors.

What did you think of the February selection? Any other suggestions on how to make that lipstick work?

I would love to try this box out! I love that lipstick shade but I am pale white and it would probably be way to dark on me!

As you can see, so am I, so the lipstick would look on you like it does on me :)) I love seeing other women wear this look, though.

I’m fair skinned and when I do wear lipstick it’s something neutral/pink so I understand what you are saying about preferences. I just wanted to add though that I think it looks fabulous on you. You look like you are getting ready to step out to a fancy cocktail party.

Thank you Dawn! 🙂 I guess it’s really hard to feel comfortable when wearing something that far outside of the comfort zone. I was so scared to post this picture of myself, I thought you’re all just going to laugh at me 🙁

That lipstick is everything. I LOVE it. I need it. I’ll send you my address. LOL.

Whoa Nidia, you are brave!! I want to see you sporting that vampy look <3

That lipstick looks very dramatic on you! But I like what you did with patting it on and glossing it up. Very beautiful!

Honestly I don’t at all feel the lipstick is too dark for you! The color is beautiful and with a little mascara but plain eyes it could be a true showstopper look on you. Don’t throw out the idea of wearing it normally just yet!

Thank you Marissa, I guess sometimes it’s really hard to see myself objectively, especially when it’s about things so far outside of my comfort zone. Thank you for the reassurance, I’ll try to be more adventurous with this lipstick!

I like that lipstick on you! Pretty!

Thank you Phyrra, I had a very hard time with this look, because I felt like I can’t possibly pull it off.

    • January 30, 2014 / 3:20 pm

The color by itself is lovely, but I’m just scared that I can’t pull it off 🙂

  7. January 30, 2014 / 2:49 pm

I would feel weird in a shade that dark too, but you know what? You are totally rockin it!! Looks gorgeous on you! Love the nail colors too! <3

    • January 30, 2014 / 3:21 pm

Oh my, really Amber? It’s so hard to believe that most of you think I can rock this shade, maybe I should try being more adventurous 🙂 Thank you for reassurance!

    • January 30, 2014 / 3:21 pm

It is one of the best boxes they have sent, that’s for sure. I love the nail polishes, and the formula of that lipstick is amazing!

I’ll share my secret with wearing bold dark colors: Fake it til you make it. I’m a believer anyone can wear whatever color they want so long as they own it. lol It looks great on you and totally on point for the current trends. It know it can seem scary but remember you can totally own it!

    • January 30, 2014 / 9:11 pm

Thanks for the suggestion! I don’t think I have a good poker face for this kind of makeup, so I might need some mirror practice first 🙂

    • January 30, 2014 / 9:13 pm

Thank you Honey, reading your encouraging comment really helps boost my confidence <3

  9. January 30, 2014 / 6:10 pm

that lipstick looks killer on you

    • January 30, 2014 / 9:14 pm

Thank you Chrissy! I guess I will have to learn how to pull off that look 🙂

  10. January 30, 2014 / 8:00 pm

I love the lippie just patted on! It’s so awesome they do handwritten notes, too. Great touch!

    • January 30, 2014 / 9:15 pm

Thank you <3 I thought I could make it work like that, because the formula is so creamy!

    • January 30, 2014 / 9:15 pm

I really hoped for a different color, but the formula is to die for. Now I want to purchase more of them, in the colors that I like 🙂

    • January 31, 2014 / 3:30 pm

Ahh thank you Miranda, it’s quite intimidating, but with everyone’s help I’m learning to love it 🙂

  11. January 31, 2014 / 12:22 am

Like so many others, I don’t think this color is too much for you. One of my biggest regrets is not trying interesting and striking colors when I was younger and it would have been more appropriate. (please don’t get mad wrong- I hate ageism and arbitrary rules about what women should or should not wear, based on age!). I think it looks beautiful on you and that you look like a beautiful ballerina.

    • January 31, 2014 / 3:30 pm

Thank you for your comment, Carrin, I absolutely don’t take it the wrong way. I love getting advice, so your words definitely didn’t fall on deaf ears <3 I never thought I could pull off these looks, but reading these comments really makes me want to get out my coccoon. Thank you! <3

    • January 31, 2014 / 3:31 pm

Yay! I didn’t think it was, but you all made me change my mind about it 🙂

  12. January 31, 2014 / 10:52 pm

Now this is something I’d like to try!
