I like when my beauty boxes arrive early, and LMdB has always been on top of that, giving me shipping notification for the next month as early as January 15th! February Vault VIP box is all about glamming up for Valentine’s day, and all members received two nail polishes and a lipstick [colors vary for each subscribers]. I got my Nail Lacquer in Red Lodge and Cocoa Cabana, and the lipstick was in Bali.

HOW IT WORKS
As a Vault VIP for $348/year you will receive a full-sized product or assortment of products every month, curated by our Beauté experts. Members of The Vault will also have the opportunity to try exclusive, limited-edition items and pre-releases of the brand’s latest and greatest before anyone else gets their hands on them.
The sign ups will become available again only in July 2014.

Nail Lacquer in Red Lodge and Cocoa Cabana – I’m not crazy about reds, because they’re a bit too “classic” for me, but it’ll still be fun to try; however, the cocoa color is right up my alley, since I adore chocolatey hues for winter. I have to test these more thoroughly, so the full review will be up in a separate post some time next week. Right now I can say that I love the bottle design, it reminds me of glass paperweights 🙂

Le Metier de Beaute Colour Core Lipstick in Bali: top – lightly patted on, with clear gloss; bottom – two thick layers

Colour Core Lipstick in Bali – Now here’s the color I’m confused about. I think the shade is too dark for me, but I made it work by patting it on my lips first, then applying a layer of clear gloss [I used C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine]. The formula is an absolute delight and feels so creamy and smooth on the lips, that’s why I really wish I had gotten a different color, so that I can actually wear it every day. The coverage is full, but as you can see from the pictures, it can be a bit patchy, due to that creamy consistency. This particular color does leave a slight stain on the lips [all reds do], but it was very easy to remove with that makeup remover they sent us in January. I made a vampy makeup look to share with you guys, so you could see how dark it looks on me. I applied the lightest foundation I own, and dusted my entire face with a white highlighter powder. Casper white!

On the lips – Colour Core Lipstick in “Bali”: I think it’s a bit too dark on me

THE VERDICT
The lipstick color was obviously way too dark on me, but I can make it work if I mix it with clear lip gloss. As for nail polishes, I will reserve my judgment until I get to wear them for a few days and see how they are. I’m reeeallly hoping that if we get more color cosmetics in March, they will be in slightly more wearable colors.

What did you think of the February selection? Any other suggestions on how to make that lipstick work?
