I branched out into Korean cosmetics only recently, so I feel like I still have a lot of products to try to get the general idea, and what better way to do it if not for sample boxes? So far I tried Wishtrend Wishbox, Memebox and now I purchased one of YesStyle sample kits. All of these kits are totally random and come with various products, in fact, knowing that I was even tempted to buy more than one if I was guaranteed no repeats. All sample kits contain 10 samples of popular Korean beauty products, and are equal in value.
HOW IT WORKS
YesStyle offers a variety of sample bundles, even International and Japanese ones. The prices vary, but the most expensive bundle I’ve seen cost $24.90/box and the cheapest around $11.90/box, shipping not included. Free shipping to US on all orders over $25.

YesStyle March 2014 Korean Beauty Sample Set – each set includes 10 random samples |
SKIN Food Agave Cactus Emulsion 10ml | SKIN Food Agave Cactus Toner 10ml |
innisfree soybean firming lotion 15ml | innisfree soybean firming cream 5ml | innisfree soybean firming skin 15ml |
LANEIGE Power Essential Skin Refiner 15ml |
Nature Republic The First Number One Essence |
Etude House Nail Polish in PK011 7ml |
Missha 3D Essence Sheet Mask | LacVert White Tea Mask |
LANEIGE Power Essential Skin Refiner – This small bottle contains a generous amount of skin essence, which is something western women rarely use. Essence is a step after the toner and before a serum in terms of layering, and it’s one of the most vital parts of asian skincare. I like that it contains royal jelly and lactobacteria, those two ingredients work well for my skin. What I don’t like is alcohol, which is placed third on the ingredient list, so even though I enjoyed the way my skin felt after the application, I’m not going to repurchase more.
SKIN Food Agave Cactus Emulsion – I really like the way this emulsion made my skin feel lifted and moisturized. It also absorbs almost immediately and seems to work well with my other skincare.
SKIN Food Agave Cactus Toner – Not too crazy about this toner, it seemed to dry out my skin, which can be a bad thing. Definitely not a product I would repurchase.
innisfree soybean firming cream – This moisturizer feels very comfortable, however the texture is thick, heavy and somewhat tough to blend. Definitely a product for dryer skin types, or for the nighttime.
innisfree soybean firming skin – This is a toner/essence that you apply after cleansing your face. It’s white and looks like milk, and makes the skin soft instantly right after it absorbs, and after three days it even normalized my t-zone. I would love to try using it long-term, however, this product is on the expensive side as far as toners go, and retails for $38 USD.
innisfree soybean firming lotion – Great lightweight moisturizer, perfect for my combination skin. It softens, moisturizes and balances, especially that troublesome T-zone area.
Nature Republic The First Number One Essence – A less famous dupe for famous SK-II essence, but no less fabulous. I saw improvement to my skin’s texture after 3-4 days of using it twice a day
Missha 3D Essence Sheet Mask – A unique concept! This mask is actually made in the shape of a face, so I no longer have to figure out how to adhere it properly. I’m very easy to please when it comes to sheet masks, and I’m pretty sure I liked all I’ve tried so far. This one made my skin look brighter, whiter, and more moisturized.
Etude House Nail Polish in PK011 – I left the products I didn’t get a chance to try yet at the bottom of the list. This polish is so cute, and I love looking at it, but haven’t gotten around to swatching it yet. I’ll make sure to do it asap and post some pictures in the near future.
LacVert White Tea Mask – Like I said before, I’m really pleased with pretty much all sheet masks, so there’s a high chance I’m going to like this one too. I love the slightty peachy fragrance of white tea, and hopefully this mask smells like it.
THE VERDICT
These sample boxes are a great way to try exotic skincare, makeup and other Korean beauty products, but before you buy one, make sure you are content with the fact that you will probably get your money’s worth, but it’s definitely not a “sweet deal” type of purchase. I enjoyed sampling these new brands and products, and even added something to my ever-growing wishlist [innisfree soybean firming skin].
