You all remember me raving about YSL Glossy Stains [if you didn’t, check out this post], and while I still haven’t committed to a full-sized tube, I have three more swatches to share with you. This time the colors are from YSL’s Rebel Nudes Glossy Stain lineup. The sample trio I got featured #103 Pink Taboo, #106 Beige Anarchist, and #107 Naughty Mauve.
Yves Saint Laurent Rebel Nudes Glossy Stain |
What’s so different about these? Well, if the original Glossy Stains are gorgeously opaque, Rebel Nudes are more on the sheer side, and act more like lip glosses than liquid lipsticks. They are also the first to premiere Euphoric Pearl technology for an all-day 3D luminous effect.
Yves Saint Laurent Rebel Nudes Glossy Stain – arm swatches |
#103 Pink Taboo is best described as watermelon pink with subtle golden shimmer. It gives my lips a very natural tint and gorgeous shiny finish; it’s my favorite color of the three.
#106 Beige Anarchist is described as nude pink, but on me it looks like beige coral with golden microglitter. It’s a very neutral daytime shade that would work even for most color-hesitant ladies.
#107 Naughty Mauve is a crazy mix of mauve base and purple shimmer. The color shows really well in the swatches, but it actually doesn’t look anything like that on the lips. Instead, the lips have that “your lips but better” tint with just a hint of subtle blue shimmer.
Yves Saint Laurent Rebel Nudes Glossy Stain – on the lips |
The packaging looks just like the original YSL Rouge Pur Couture stains: blackened tube with golden cap, featuring a slanted doe foot applicator, which distributes the pigment quickly and evenly. Unfortunately, my lips must be a special kind of crazy, because Rebel Nudes glosses didn’t go on as evenly as their sisters from the classic collection.
The longevity is totally on par with other Glossy Stains – each one of these 6-7 hours on my lips without fading, and I only needed one touch-up at the end of the day. Those are some great results for lip glosses!

THE VERDICT
Although I love the wear time and the feel of Yves Saint Laurent Rebel Nudes Glossy Stains, the formula just doesn’t seem to work for my lips. This collection, however, is great for anybody looking for long-lasting sheer gloss that doesn’t need to be constantly reapplied throughout the day.

I like pigmentation, they look super glossy though
They really are, most if not all YSL Rouge Pur Couture glossy stains are like that.
These look so gorgeous on you!!
Thank you! 🙂
Love these! <3 Gorgeous as usual
Thank you, Laura!
These look great on you. #103 is my fave.
Thank you Erika, glad you like these.
Are they sticky? They look super glossy so I am curious? They looks gorgeous on you though, and the colors are amazing!!
They are a bit sticky until they set, then once they set they will not budge. The formula is seriously impressive!
I like the colors. They all look great on you.
Thank you!
107 is stunning when swatched
Yep, I love looking at the swatches, too bad they don’t look like that on the lips.
They are so beautiful!! So much sparkle!
Indeed, lots of shinies!
Wow, 107 is gorgeous!
Agreed, it’s such a pretty color!
Gorgeous! I love them all!
They are fabulous!
OMG! I love these!
Glad you like them, too! 🙂
Thanks for swatching on your arm and lips. On your lips, they look similar but not on your arms. I think #107 is my fave.
I just had to, when I realized how different they look on the lips.
Oh, I think I must have them all!
Those three, and the rest of the collection, right? 🙂
They all look similar to me – I was hoping for more purple after seeing that swatch!
Yep, I know, its crazy how similar they all are. The differences are so subtle, I don’t think I could justify buying several of these.
The colors are pretty. Interesting they would use the word ‘nude’ on these shades, though.
Yep, I wonder why they named them like that. Maybe on more pigmented lips they would look more “nude”, you know?
Pretty sheer and similar. I’d grab one just to have a longwearing gloss. =)
My thoughts exactly, Ashley. I honestly expected them to at least look more different.
These look beautiful on you. I have been eyeing them but was waiting for some good swatches… and great looks!
Thank you, Honey! I hope this post helped 🙂
These are so pretty, but on the lips they look very similar!
They sure do, I wonder why YSL made them like this.
Ahhh I love #107!!!
It’s gorgeous!
Gorgeous!
I’m glad you like them!
I’ve tried these in store many times but have never made a purchase!
You know, if I swatched them in store on my arm, Id probably walk away with several of them. Then I’d put them on my lips and wonder how on earth did I just manage to spend a few hundred dollars on almost the same color lippie.
same here, these glossy stains didn’t work well w/ my lips!
Glad it’s not just me, thanks for letting me know.
They look gorgeous and I like that they last so long, but their formula seems bit weird.
It really is, and it kinda feels odd. But maybe it’s just my lips being crazy, because I’ve seen other reviews, and those girls had some gorgeous swatches.
Those swatches look SO stunning!!!
Thank you so much Brooke! <3 <3
these look so lovely!
#107=wow
They are so very pretty
