I was told that I need to show my face on the blog more often, so here it is! If you follow my PR haul posts, or watch my Instagram stories, you know that I received a lot of beautiful makeup from L’Oreal Paris in the past couple of months. Today I decided to finally sit down and play with the products, give everything a test run on my actual face, and just have some fun with it in general. For the purpose of this post, everything on my face today is from L’Oreal, and you can find all of these goodies at your local drugstores where the brand is sold.
Top to Bottom: Brow Stylist Kabuki Blender, Infallible Total Cover Foundation 302, Infallible Total Cover Concealing and Contour Kit, Visible Lift Radiance Booster.
For the sake of testing, I did not apply a primer under my makeup, but I did use Visible Lift Radiance Booster, which is an illuminating base that gives your skin that glow from within. It feels a little siliconey, and adds that familiar slick to the skin, so the foundation goes on more evenly. The pink tone is also slightly color-correcting; it can improve the color of dull and sallow skin if you aren’t feeling well or just didn’t get enough sleep. Nothing wrong with faking it til you make it. 😉
Speaking of foundation, today I am wearing new Infallible Total Cover Full Coverage Weightless foundation in the shade 302 Creamy Natural, which is a great match for my skin tone. The foundation has the most unusual texture: it’s whipped and feels heavy at first, but then it kind of melts into the skin and spreads evenly without much effort. The coverage is not “full”, as the packaging states, but it’s a good medium that can be built up to medium-full. It’s a lovely luminous finish that makes my skin look like my skin, but better. It’s one of my favorite releases from L’Oreal this year!
I like using concealer every day, even if only to brighten the undereye area slightly without needing to actually conceal anything, so today I am wearing the lightest shade from the Infallible Total Cover Concealing and Contour Kit. The texture is very creamy, so I don’t think it will work for concealing blemishes, but it works well for lightening areas under the eyes and around the nose to even out the skin tone and give the facial contours some subtle definition. The darkest shade was too warm for me, but I could make the other three work for my needs. The lightest shade is hands down a favorite, although I’m not sure buying the entire palette for just one pan is worth it, but it’s ultimately up to you.
Moving on to the brows! I already mentioned in my past PR haul post that the color of Brow Stylist Kabuki Blender was not a good match for me, but at least I had fun trying out the formula and the nifty brush applicator. You can see in the selfie below that the shade is a touch too warm, so my brows stand out too much instead of framing my face. Since this was my first attempt at filling in the brows with a big pencil, I made a few mistakes here and there, so yes there is definitely a learning curve to it even if you already know how to do your brows with other products.
Top to Bottom: Infallible Paints Lip Color 316 Wild Rose, Infallible Paints Eyeshadow 320 Brown Sugar, Infallible Paints Eyeshadow 316 Cool Ivory, Infallible Paints Pro Artist Palette 230.
We’ve got our base covered, now let’s add some color!
On my cheeks I applied the peachy-nude shade [leftmost pan] from the Infallible Paints Pro Artist Palette palette in 230 Blush. The color is very subtle, but it looks brighter in person than on camera, as in it’s actually visible. Although it looks like there’s nothing on my cheeks, I promise, it’s there! Formula-wise, these blushes are nothing to write home about – the texture is dry, chalky, and hard to blend, so I had to build up the color very carefully using a big fluffy brush. However, there are almost no matte blush palettes available at the drugstore, so this one might be worth a try despite the imperfections. It’s not terrible, just not a must have by any means.
On my eyes I decided to try some of the recently released Infallible Paints Eyeshadow duos in 316 Cool Ivory and 320 Brown Sugar. First I applied the lighter brown shade from 320 to the crease, and blended out with my finger. Then took the darker shade and very carefully blended some in the outer corners of my lids for some definition. For some reason it came out gray? I also dipped an eyeliner brush in that same dark brown shade and lightly lined my eyes on the top and a little bit along the bottom lash line. To finish off the look, I used the lightest shimmery off-white from the 316 duo, which I also blended with my fingers. I must say, it’s not easy to apply makeup using only your fingers, especially if you have long nails. I was this close to poking myself in the eye a few times, so next time I will use brushes for sure. The wear time on these is impressive: they lasted all day without creasing on my oily, hooded eyelids.
I topped my eye look with a few swipes of Voluminous Feline mascara in Blackest Black 627, which offers volume and definition, but not so much in terms of length. I don’t need length, and lack of volume is my main issue, so I personally really like this one for my needs.
And finally, I finished the look with a quick swipe of Infallible Paints Lip Color in 316 Wild Rose, which turned out to be very bold on me, so I quickly blotted it and was very happy with the resulting matte look. These new lippies are the perfect dupes for YSL Glossy Lip Stains that are adored by bloggers worldwide, they even smell the same. So if you like a bold, juicy lip look and love liquid lipsticks, but don’t want to spend a price premium on department store brands, these lippies are well worth a try.
And this is it! I posted swatches of everything above for your reference. Keep in mind that I applied all of these products for testing purposes only. If I was going out that day, I would have used either a different lip color for that eye look, or a different eye look for the lip color. I would also spend more time fixing my brows. 🙂 Still, trying out new products from L’Oreal Paris was really fun, and I discovered some new favorites along the way, like Infallible Total Cover Concealing and Contour Kit and Infallible Total Cover Full Coverage Weightless Foundation.
Have you tried any really impressive drugstore products lately? Do you wear L’Oreal makeup? Let me know in the comments below!
Beautiful! I love the look you did. L’Oreal makes some great stuff! Love Wild Rose – I’m eager to try one of those Infallible Paint Lip Colors, maybe even that shade. And the blush palette is lovely too
Thank you Allison! I agree, L’Oreal products are such great value for the money, and many of them are comparable to department store cosmetics.
You look great. Your eyes are neutral and light handed enough that the bold lip goes well! It looks like you had a blast testing these!
I very gently dabbed on the eye colors with my fingers 🙂 I don’t know if brushes will work with these duos though, I think I read another blog post and the blogger hated them.
So, so pretty! Love the blush and lip colors!
The blush color is super pretty! I wish it showed up better on camera.
I’m anxious to try the Infallible Eye Paints. I like the look you did a lot. Your skin looks flawless with that foundation.
Thank you Marcia! This medium coverage foundation still makes my skin look like skin, but better 🙂
I seriously need to jump on these new products! Especially the palettes!
The color corrector palette is seriously amazing. I didn’t use it today, but it’s absolutely worth trying.
What a beautiful soft romantic look! Love it, especially the eyes! Well done my dear.
This is pretty much my basic everyday go-to eye look, which I pair with a peachy-nude lipstick.
I love your soft look today. So pretty.
Thank you!
