Earlier this summer Soap & Paper Factory introduced their new Farmacie Candle Collection, inspired by the popularity of the company’s cult Farmacie skincare line. I tried the products before and particularly fancied the Marigold Calendula body lotion and Red Rose Saffron. Just like the skincare, the candles are packaged in hefty apothecary-style jars with lids and feature botanical herbs and spices traditionally used in medicine. As a self-proclaimed candle hoarder, I was couldn’t wait to take my new Lavender Clary Sage Candle [$25, available here] for a ride!
After trimming and lighting up the wick it took about 30 minutes to fill the room with fragrance. Soy candles tend to be slightly less potent than other types, so that’s a pretty good outcome. Lavender Clary Sage blend contains three notes: accentuated lavender is being enhanced by bitter bergamot and crisp clary sage for an earthy, comforting scent. To me this is what a fancy SPA smells like – warm, relaxing, and slightly medicinal.
One of the main features of these candles is the beautiful ceramic vessel with a cap. Once empty, the container can be reused as a pencil holder, a trinket box, or even a vase for a small bouquet of flowers. Or, you know, a quintessential piece of decor for blogger-approved staging with white furniture, marble, and peonies 🙂 Just kidding! Seriously, though, this is a beautiful container that doesn’t look like it’s cheaply made. I inspected it thoroughly and didn’t find any weird uneven edges, smudges, chips, or smears like it often happens with low quality mass-produced candles. The overall craftsmanship that goes into Farmacie candles is quite impressive, and the attention to detail makes them a really nice gift.
Soap & Paper Factory candles are proudly made in NY using clean burning Non-GMO soy wax; they’re vegan and cruelty-free.

I have only tried the S&P hand cream, but I would love one of the candles. The apothecary jar is gorgeous, and I would like that scent combo. Because of my asthma, I prefer soy candles like this
The hand cream is definitely my favorite skincare product they make. I have the Saffron Rose one and it’s really great!
My blog partner is crazy about S&P. The candle sounds wonderful besides being so pretty.
I’m glad to hear that she likes them, too! I’ve been impressed with everything I tried from this company.
Oooh girl these candles look and sound so amazing! I don’t care if I have 10 candles, I will still buy more 🙂
Haha, I’m the same way girl! I hoard candles like electricity is going out of style XD
I love lavender, and that candle looks so luxurious.
I love lavender-scented things too, but it was an acquired taste 🙂
I would totally use it for staging! lolol This candle sounds so luscious and I could almost smell it, from your description.
Haha, this is so perfect and not cliche like Diptyque candles! (although I do love those to pieces)
Lavender kills me but it’s pretty.
Oh no, sorry to hear that! I get a pretty bad reaction to some strong-smelling flowers too, gardenia is one of them.
I love the ceramic holder– easy to reuse!!
My thoughts exactly! It will work perfectly for any bathroom counter.
I have the Marigold Calendula. I need to light it up!
That one sounds amazing! I have Marigold and Calendula body lotion and it smells so calming.
Ohh I like the sound of this! ANd I love the simplicity of the ceramic holder
It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a candle in a vessel like that.
I love your pictures here. And I love clary sage.
Thank you! I love clary sage, too 🙂
