Jouer is not a name shouted from every blogger’s rooftop, that’s for sure, but I believe this ultra girly luxury brand deserves more recognition. Originally my healthy relationship with them began with tiny lip gloss samples, that later turned into full-sized purchases. Nowadays I own a small collection of Jouer products, and they are all in constant rotation. In today’s blog post I wanted to highlight four of my most used Jouer Moisturizing Lip Glosses [$22, available here], trust me, you’ll be surprised how pigmented some of them are!
First of all, this lip gloss formula is among my all-time favorites. I don’t use lip glosses often these days, but when I want to use one I always reach for one of these, or Mirabella’s, which are also amazing. Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss formula is loaded with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, and Jojoba Seed Oil, so they wear like lip balm with all the perks of a lip gloss. Unlike many others, Jouer glosses are unscented, so they are perfect for people sensitive to strong fragrances in cosmetics.
The four shades I currently own [and swatching for you today] are Monaco, Malibu, Glisten, and Eclipse.
Monaco is a bright coral red that reminds me of blooming poppies. This shade is intensely pigmented for a lip gloss, and even a couple quick swipes show up on the lips like a juicy tint. I love wearing it when I want to make a statement without bothering with lipstick, and the jelly-like gloss texture is way less fussy for the daytime.
Malibu looks like a hot pink in the tube, but it actually goes on pretty sheer on the lips, as you can see. On more pigmented lips it might now show up at all, but since mine are naturally ghostly pale I always welcome products that subtly add color without making it obvious. This is my go-to gloss for a true no-makeup look [that takes more time to execute than a regular makeup look somehow, haha].
Glisten is a light peach with multicolored microglitter that goes on very sheer. I like to think of it as glitter for grownups, because it’s subtle and very classy, and gives the lips some fun glow without turning them into a disco ball. Actually, this is the color I use the least among the four, but I still like it a lot! It doesn’t add a tint to my lips, so instead of wearing it on its own, I use it to enhance matte and satin lipsticks.
Eclipse is like Glisten’s more pigmented sister. It has similar microglitter particles, but instead of swimming in light peach base, they are housed in glorious caramel goo. I was surprised how similar they looked in the tubes, but in reality they are nothing alike. I simply love wearing Eclipse on a sunny day out, it looks magical and very flattering!
Like most Jouer products, Moisturizing Lip Glosses come in rectangular packaging that lets them to snap together and form a palette with any other products from the line, so you never lose your favorites in the bottomless depths of your purse. Genius hack, isn’t it?
BOTTOM LINE:
Jouer Moisturizing Lip Glosses are fabulous, and I am super happy with the four I own! I love that they feel like lip balm and actually hydrate my chapped lips, so they don’t feel parched at the end of the day. The only thing that would have improved the formula is the addition of SPF, but I can live without it as long as the glosses play well with my usual lip sunscreen [I am partial to this one from Supergoop].

Oh, how lovely! I adore Monaco and Eclipse. I haven’t tried these, but I did get a deluxe sample of Jouer Lip Balm in a Birchbox or ipsy bag and I loved it.
These are so pretty! I love the metallic glossy look. I have a few Jouer items, all which I really like!
I totally agree-Jouer is such an underrated brand! I have Eclipse and love it! Do you have any of the sets? I have Sunday Brunch and adore it!!
I have yet to try Jouer but those four glosses are dangerously tempting!
I’ve used Jouer on and off for years. I used to have a gloss but I don’t think it was as pretty as Malibu.
I got the recent Long-Wear Lip Cremes from Jouer and LOOOOVE them. These have identical packaging, and look very pretty on you! I’m going to pick a couple more of the liquid lippies from the Fall collection.
