Hand Creams in Rotation

My mom never forgets to apply her hand cream. Ever. I’m pretty sure her hands are softer than mine, and I’m not surprised! All of her life she diligently protected them from the sun and nourished them with lotions and creams, and a good rich hand cream is about the best gift anybody can give her. I’ve been trying to adopt this beauty habit for quite a while now, but it just doesn’t come to me naturally, so I end up using hand creams whenever I can remember. I have many different body lotions, hand creams, and balms in my skincare stash, but lately I’ve been favoring these two: Aesop Reverence Aromatique Hand Balm [$27, available here] and Soap & Paper Factory Farmacie Red Rose & Saffron Moisturizing Hand Cream [$16, available here].

Aesop Reverence Aromatique Hand Balm is a balmy aromatic concoction that melts into the skin and instantly conditions my hands. I keep it on my night table, because its relaxing aroma puts me right to sleep, and I can catch whiffs of it when I wake up in the middle of the night to get a drink or to fix my blanket. This hand cream is more like a salve, rich in softening butters and infused with multiple citrus oils to brighten the discolorations while keeping the formula from oxidizing. It’s important to remember that citrus oils and extracts are a double edged sword. They do amazing things for the skin, but you must always remember to apply SPF to the treated areas or the effect will be the exact opposite.

Soap & Paper Factory Farmacie Red Rose & Saffron Moisturizing Hand Cream on the other hand has a lighter formula, but still very moisturizing. I use this hand cream in the morning and whenever I can remember throughout the day. The fragrance consists of rose, saffron, and tonka bean blend, and the rose note here can be quite overpowering. I love rose-centric perfumes, and they seem to work well with my body chemistry, but someone who doesn’t care for them is best choosing a hand cream from one of the other two Farmacie scents.

I know I’ve been raving endlessly about FarmHouse Fresh hand creams, and I still love them to pieces. However, I wanted to give all of the products in my stash a fair chance, and discovered these two that are equally as fabulous.

Do you use hand cream regularly or like me struggling to make it a habit? What hand creams have impressed you lately? Let me know in the comments below!
