Benefit Cosmetics New Creaseless Cream Shadow Review, Swatches and Pictures

A few months bag I was lucky enough to host a house party with Ipsy and Benefit Cosmetics. In addition to fun samples I got to share with my guests, I received a very generous hostess gift, which included several of the brand’s hottest and newest products, including two brand new Creaseless Cream Shadows in Bronze Have More Fun and Bikini-Tini. I love neutrals and earthy tones, so this duo could not have been more perfect.

After my recent disappointment with cream shadows always creasing on me, anything that promises to stay on all day without creases sounds like white noise to me.

Benefit Cosmetics claims that these eye shadows are “crease-proof & budge-proof, glide on easily and last all day long”. The formula is indeed very smooth and creamy, ensuring even application, regardless of the method: use your fingers or brushes, it will go on evenly and look great. Five to six light swirls around the pan provides with a fair amount of pigment while barely making a dent on the surface. The shadows have a very light neutral fragrance, which is nice, because I’m really not a fan of products that smell like dye.

I really have to compliment the beautiful packaging which I like way more than the previous version they had. These flat glass jars with a twist-off cap look very girly and elegant, and if you stack them one on top of another, they look almost like dessert! šŸ™‚ All of the info about the product is printed on the cap, which is my main problem with the new packaging. If you accidentally swap them, you’d have no way of knowing which shade is which.

The color descriptions on the site are quite accurate: Bikini-Tini is listed as “oyster pink”, and Bronze Have More Fun is a rich “antique bronze”.

Longevity-wise, these eye shadows have a truly impressive staying power. I put them on in the AM, and my eyes still looked like I just did my makeup when the clock showed well past midnight. I’m sure if I didn’t remove them before going to bed, they would still be there in the morning.

Most importantly, are they really creaseless? My answer is, yes they are! I have moderately oily eyelids, so it’s just a matter of time until most eye shadows crease on me, even the “creaseless” ones.

THE VERDICT
Overall, I would say that Creaseless Cream Shadows lived up to their name, and provided at least 12 hours of wear, with the potential to last even longer. In addition to easy application, the colors are well-pigmented and don’t fade or crease on the lids. Just be careful not to misplace those caps, or it might get really confusing which shade is which.

Do you think they would be good as a eyeshadow primer?

    • January 29, 2014 / 3:34 pm

Good question, Deanna. I think this can work as long as you apply the eyeshadows fast enough so they kind of fuse together. If you let these set, your eyes might feel too dry and uncomfortable with an extra layer of product on them.

Oooh! I hated cream shadows BECAUSE of the creasing! I am so going to have to check these out!

    • January 29, 2014 / 3:49 pm

You and me both! I have tond of creases on my eyelids, and I hated how cream shadows always accentuated those. So happy to finally find the ones that don’t!

  3. January 29, 2014 / 9:31 am

You are too sweet, Laura šŸ™‚ I figured wearing just these two is probably the best way to showcase how amazing they look together.

Love the look you did, and agreed, these are one of the VERY few creaseless cream eyeshadows that actually works. Love these! And I LOVE the new packaging, so cute!!!

Yes! They look like candy, don’t they?

  5. January 29, 2014 / 11:03 am

That eye look is so pretty! Those shadows sound amazing. I don’t have oily eyelids, but they are becoming more hooded as time goes by…

    • January 29, 2014 / 3:56 pm

Thank you Nidia <3 These should stay put on hooded eyelids as well. I am seriously so impressed with benefit right now, I now want to own these eye shadows in every single color.

I love the look you did with these! I haven’t tried any of the creaseless creams, but I need to! They are just gorgeous!

    • January 29, 2014 / 4:00 pm

Aw thank you! Most of the cream eye shadows crease on me all the time, but these are exceptional. You should definitely try these first before any others.

  15. January 29, 2014 / 4:33 pm

I love the packaging! I think these wouldn’t work so well with my oily lids. Wah šŸ™

    • January 30, 2014 / 8:20 am

Believe it or not, these actually might work, even with oily lids. Mine are pretty oily too, and these shadows stayed on all day.

  16. January 29, 2014 / 6:03 pm

You’re one lucky woman! Congrats on winning! It’s good to know that these didn’t crease on you. I have oily lids though so I may have issues w/ these.

    • January 30, 2014 / 8:24 am

Thank you, Kath! I have moderately oily eyelids, and did not experience any problems with these eye shadows, so it might work for you, too.

  17. January 29, 2014 / 9:37 pm

How fun that you held that party. I have bought several of these shadows and never had a creasing problem though I do use a primer first.

    • January 30, 2014 / 8:25 am

The party was great, none of my guests even knew about benefit cosmetics before, so it was fun to introduce them to it.

  18. January 30, 2014 / 12:02 pm

    Love the neutral look!

  19. February 3, 2014 / 2:49 pm

Yep, I know it’s hard to believe, because for most of us cream shadows just don’t work that well. However, as a person who hates cream shadows, I think these two are the best I have tried so far!

  20. February 3, 2014 / 8:06 pm

The packaging on these is gorgeous. Benefit just has a way of making me want to buy everything they make :-p

    • February 4, 2014 / 11:01 pm

I know right? Stacked one on top of another they look like a cookie sandwich šŸ™‚
