Yuzen Box Review: December 2012

I had some issues with my credit card so I was able to pay for my December Yuzen box only a couple weeks ago. As always, their shipping is nice and fast since they ship USPS Priority, and my box arrived in great condition packed with the most relaxing and indulgent products.

I was most excited to see SpaRitual and SIBU on the list of brands when I peeked at spoilers. SpaRitual used to be one of my favorite nail polish companies back when I lived in Russia and SIBU makes fabulous products with organic sea buckthorn oil.

About Yuzen Box:

Yuzen is a monthly subscription service that costs $26/month. In your box you will receive a mix of eco-friendly, cruelty-free, natural and organic lifestyle and beauty products plus a sheet of authentic hand-crafted Yuzen paper (new paper each month, I thought it was a pretty cool touch). All products are either very generously deluxe-sized or full-sized. They ship USPS Priority mail so you only have to wait for a couple days after receiving the shipping notification. Each month’s box value is always $60 or above.

red flower little flower candle in Italian Blood Orange
I lit this tiny candle yesterday for the first time while watching a movie with my husband. The fragrance was very pleasant and not overpowering, and even after the movie was over the candle still looked brand new, so I guess the claims that it burns for at least 15 hours are true after all.

Ambre Blends Sample Pack
I kind of like the idea behind perfume oils, but I don’t wear them outside of the house. Unmasque reminded me of the smell in the dentist’s office. Solace is a very reserved, warm fragrance. Ambre smelled like warm dust on the pebbles by the ocean. And Invoke smells faintly like freshly cut grass. And as crazy as some of these sound, these scents are actually very pleasant!

Tara Spa Therapy Stress Relief Bath Salts
I have tried better bath salts than this one so I wasn’t super impressed, although it would be nearly impossible to beat my current favorite Zents bath salts which I also discovered through Yuzen. Tara’s bath salt came in the form of very fine salty powder without much fragrance to it. I felt like I needed a bigger sample for the full effect because I prefer my water to be almost Dead Sea water/salt percentage when my skin literally feels like it’s being pampered.

Spa Technologies Hydrating Laminaria Oil
This oil is absolutely fantastic! It absorbs well leaving the skin silky smooth with a subtle glow, and I could tell the next day that all of my dry patches became so much softer. Another great thing about this oil is that a little goes a long way. I felt like a oiled myself up like a turkey for thanksgiving, but in reality I’ve only used about a tablespoon of the product.

Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Cleansing Bar
I have tried Sibu products before and liked all of them, especially the clarifying toner. I would have never bought this bar soap because it’s so expensive, but I’m glad I can try it through Yuzen.

Sparitual Nail Polish in Hunk of Burnin’ Love and Multi-Tasker Base and Top Coat In One
Nail polish minis are so much fun, you’re guaranteed to use it up before you get bored of the color like it often happens with full-sized polishes. SpaRitual is a great brand that makes quality polishes with non-streaky and long-lasting formulas. I’m looking forward to using this fun mini-duo.

Missy J’s Truffley Treats in Mint, Lime, and Sea Salt
I’m all for minty truffles but this one wasn’t very impressive. It tasted fake and the chocolate part stuck to my cheeks and gums all the time.
