You know, sometimes you feel like weeks go by so quickly, but this one felt like it lasted forever, because I stayed very busy making preparations. My Mom is finally coming over to visit me from Russia, and I haven’t seen her in over a year! We have lots of fun activities planned, like visiting Chicago and Indianapolis, as well as doing some damage at Macy’s and Sephora 🙂 Mom will also have a surgery done here in the US, and I will be there to help her recover. I scheduled some reviews for you throughout the week, so you won’t be bored in my absence. Alrighty, without further ado, here are my weekly faves!
This week I actually re-discovered an old favorite while cleaning out my bathroom cabinets – OST Refining Teatree Mist [$19.49]. It’s true that they say “out of sight out of mind”; I completely forgot about it, because it kind of got buried under other things I put in those cabinets. Now that I have this mist in my hands again, I will definitely finish it. This spray toner reminds me of LUSH Tea Tree Water in terms of effectiveness and smell. I’m prone to breakouts on my back, so I use it to keep them at bay, and it really works well.
One of the biggest staples in my makeup routine is Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light [$45]. This powder is on a pricey side, but to me it’s worth every penny. I think the best description of its effectiveness would be comparing it to flattering Instagram filters applied in real life. It diffuses the light making the skin look smoother and more even.
I received dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner [$45] as a sample in my Ipsy bag, and tt was love at first use. It fills in my pores and helps my t-zone stay matte throughout the day. I think it really complements the rest of my makeup and skincare products.
Last fave of the week is Lancome Gloss In Love in Rose Oscar [$27], which feels like moisturizing lip butter with a hint of color. I like it because it’s long-lasting and the curved wand applicator makes it easy for touchups even without a mirror.
That’s so great that you’ll get to see your mom. I can’t even imagine not seeing my mother for a whole year!
Right now I’ve been loving the Dr. Jart+ Premium BB Cream, actually. I’ve been using it for awhile, and I find that I keep going back to it every time. The only downside is that it does nothing to hide the large pores on and around my nose (not that it claims it can).
Thank you Sammi, I’m so excited to see her! It’s been wayyy too long since she last visited, and I’m a total “mama’s girl” 🙂
I know exactly what you’re talking about, that Dr. Jart BB Cream is really great! Pretty sure I received a sample in one of my Birchboxes, and while the tube was almost empty, the product inside was phenomenal. Also agree about it not hiding large pores, but again, that’s what primers are for, right? Most of us probably use them anyway.
