Wantable Makeup Box Unboxing and Review: December 2013

Purchased by Me affiliate links

I didn’t really need to buy more makeup [inner voice: “blasphemy!!”], but Wantable’s Cyber Monday deal was too good to pass up. I decided to subscribe for another month of Makeup box and try out Accessories box with my extra credits.

HOW IT WORKS
Wantable is a unique new subscription service, that offers 4-5 full-sized products from brands like Japonesque, Color Club, Lise Watier, Besame and more and they are ALL makeup! You can choose to subscribe for $36/month or buy as often as you like for $40/box without any obligations. And for those of you that don’t want a box every month there’s an easy button to skip your next shipment right in your account dashboard.

The shipping was lightning fast, as usual, and my box arrived at my doorstep within 3 business days. Unlike my November box, this time I didn’t get any products that I marked “dislike”, and the products themselves seemed higher quality. Do you think I just got lucky or did they really improve their service? Here’s what I got!

Color Club Baldwin Blues – This deep blue color is gorgeous! The only reason I decided not to swatch it is because I already have a polish in pretty much identical color – OPI in Ski Teal We Drop. I’ll put this one in my sister’s stocking, because she was swooning over my OPI 🙂 Baldwin Blues came out as part of Harlem Lights Winter 2013 Collection.

Billion Dollar Brows BDB Brow Powder in Light Brown – I was Skyping with Mom when my Wantable box came, so I unboxed it in front of her, and she apparently really wanted this brow powder. I could never say “no” to those puppy eyes 🙂 That’s like the second product out of four that I’m giving away, but oddly enough I feel happy to do so. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive, so I’m sure she will love it.

Face Stockholm Concealer Stick in Light – I actually have a hard time finding concealers that look good on me. I almost ran out of my HG from It Cosmetics, and wasn’t sure if I should just purchase more or maybe try something else. Face Stockholm Concealer Stick [that can be mistaken for a lipstick] provides a nice full matte coverage, doesn’t crease and stays all day.

I didn’t sleep well the night before I took these pictures, which is actually perfect, because you can see an instant transformation. The color is a tad bit too light on me, but if I layer it with my foundation/BB cream it looks great and gives me a fresh, well-rested look.

Michael Marcus Prime Brush – I’m not a huge fan of Michael Marcus cosmetics, but this brush is actually pretty good. It has medium-firm Taklon bristles that hold well together and immediately bounce back when I’m done using it. However, as much as I like it, I would still never pay the full retail price for it.

SKIIN Soothing & Smoothing Eye Cream – I had an allergic reaction to this cream – the skin around my eye area started stinging and burning the moment I put it on. I decided to google some reviews, and seems like there were many people who experienced the same thing I did. I guess I’m just sensitive to one or more active ingredients, because my skin normally doesn’t go crazy like that when I try new products.

THE VERDICT
I must admit, I’m very pleased with my December Wantable Makeup box. Even though the first two items were snatched away by my family, I still scored a great concealer that will be used on a daily basis, and a very good makeup brush [a girl can never have too many brushes!]. My first ever Accessories box is scheduled to arrive later this week, and I can’t wait to see what’s in it 🙂
