I was going to open with “Let’s talk about nighttime skin care”, but instead how about we talk about TATCHA? One of my all-time favorite skin care brands, TATCHA recently released their gentlest moisturizer yet, targeted specifically for sensitive and irritated skin. Whether you suffer from skin sensitivities chronically, or, like me, on occasion, INDIGO
Soothing Triple Recovery Cream will soothe and calm the redness in as little as 15 minutes.
This new moisturizer contains two key components that make it particularly effective:
- 3% Colloidal Oatmeal, which is currently the highest percentage available in a product of this kind on the market. Widely accepted as one of the best topical treatments for common skin irritations [more details here], like eczema, poison ivy, and dermatitis, colloidal oatmeal works well for treating excessive dryness, flaking, scaly, and itchy skin, and preventing further outbreaks. It’s also used as an alternative for topical steroids, which can cause unpleasant side effects.
- Japanese Indigo is not an ingredient you see often in skin care, because it’s quite expensive to produce and acquire. TATCHA is one of the very few beauty companies that use it in their products, and the effects are quite remarkable. In this moisturizer, TATCHA utilizes two compounds found in Japanese Indigo: nitrogen-rich Tryptanthrin that inhibits pain-causing enzymes, and Indirubin that inhibits inflammation-causing proteins and restores skin’s barrier function.
While I like to experiment with my beauty routine, I always use TATCHA products when my skin is misbehaving. There are many causes to sudden irritations, in my case I tend to over-exfoliate my skin sometimes, or try peels that are too harsh. Sometimes my skin gets inflamed because it poorly reacts to one of more ingredients in a product, like menthol or alcohol denat. Last month I overdid it big time with an AHA peel and INDIGO Soothing Triple Recovery Cream has been a lifesaver by helping me get the glow back in as little as 3-4 days.
But I’m not the only one who enjoyed the benefits of this wonderful moisturizer. My husband, who is normally very apprehensive about the whole skin care thing, took a liking to INDIGO Soothing Triple Recovery Cream and has been “borrowing” it for a couple weeks now. And by borrowing I mean I always just happen to find it in his bathroom when I need it 🙂 He admitted that it’s one of the few products he actually finds effective, and it helped treat irritations and razor burn on his sensitive skin without overpowering the senses with overly floral or perfumey scents, like most of the skin care I tried to get him to use. While his responses always give me a good chuckle, and he looked almost ashamed to admit that this is not yet another snake oil, as he calls them, I’m glad he found a product that works for him.
As for me, I normally use INDIGO Soothing Triple Recovery Cream in conjunction with other TATCHA products, for the best synergy. I spread a few drops of my favorite GOLD Camellia Beauty Oil, gently dab on AGELESS Revitalizing Eye Cream, and add a hint of GOLD Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm. Together, they help improve my skin and make it glowing and radiant, like those irritations never even happened.
P.S.: Also featured in the photos is the exquisite OBON Tray, a precious masterpiece that will look great on any counter or vanity.
WHERE TO BUY: $135 USD for 1.69 fl. oz. Available at TATCHA, Barney’s.

I am so dying to try this cream, I’m hyperventilating!
I believe TATCHA sells them in travel size packaging now!
Oh I want this! You had me at colloidal oatmeal!
I think TATCHA had me at colloidal oatmeal, too. When I saw it, I knew my hubs will love it 🙂
It sounds so nice, even if it is pricey! Colloidal oatmeal is great for sensitive skin and rosacea.
Agreed, it’s quite pricey, but certainly effective.
Sounds nice. I like the packaging too.
TATCHA certainly excels at packaging, everything is always wrapped so beautifully.
Beautiful packaging, and I love the colour of the cream. I haven’t seen any other creams with indigo!
I’ve only seen a couple online, but never tried any others personally. And I agree, the packaging is exquisite!
I’ve been wanting to try Tatcha and since this one is for sensitive skin I don’t have an excuse to not try it out.
If your skin is sensitive, then you will probably love this one. It’s so soothing!
I have used Tatcha for a few years now, their eye cream is AHMAZING. I love their products such a great brand!
I know right? I loved everything I tried from them so far.
I am about to start using their products for dry skin as soon as my Murad products are finished and I’m so excited! This one sounds soooo soothing.
How exciting! I can’t wait to read what you think about the brand.
TATCHA is amazing. I love the Indigo body cream.
That body cream is everything! I also love their hand cream, it’s one of the best out there.
This cream sounds pretty amazing. I’m expecting to test something from Tatcha and I’m looking forward to it.
I look forward to reading your thoughts on TATCHA products, hopefully you end up loving them as much as I do 🙂
All of their products seem so luxurious!
They really do, don’t they? TATCHA makes using their skin care a SPA experience rather than slap-on-and-go.
OMG, all these look so luxurious and visually appealing to me
As a fellow visual I am totally with you on that 😉
I want to try all the TATCHA. It’s all so beautiful. Isn’t it funny how our husbands can sometimes be the voice of reason separating ‘snake oil’ from a real treasure? I know mine isn’t swayed by pretty packaging or name brands like I can sometimes be. If he uses it and likes it, I know it’s a keeper!
I agree, Nidia, and I know I am often swayed by fancy brands and pretty bottles. I’m glad that he found a product that works for him though, as he often just snarks at my piles of skin care 🙂
I need to jump on the TATCHA bandwagon asap!
OMG, you’re not on it yet? Girl, we have a spot reserved just for you here!
Tatcha is seriously awesome. I love how gentle it is on my sensitive skin.
That’s exactly what I love about it – that soothing gentleness is unrivaled.
