SquareHue February 2016 Review

So, remember my guesses for SquareHue February 2016 nail polish colors? I was right about one of them – teal! Even though I didn’t guess all three correctly, it was fun to try. Also, I totally realize that I haven’t been consistent with my beauty box reviews for the past few months. Due to my other ongoing projects I had to put some content on the back burner, and figured that if I had to single out a category it would be the boxes. Anyhow, I have some room to breathe for now, so today I wanted to finally show you the February trio. Inspired by the iconic venues around Amsterdam, these seasonal colors are perfect for the end of winter!

First of all, here’s the color I guessed – Waterland District. Its ultra-pigmented formula makes it a one-coater, but I just love applying two for good measure and because my nails to need all that extra thickness. This beautiful teal creme is super versatile and will look appropriate for any season. I can definitely see myself rocking it as my beach pedi color this summer!

The next shade is called The Nieuwmarkt, and it’s a high shine warm red creme with a little bit of cool-toned micro-shimmer mixed in. The shimmer actually didn’t show up on my nails much, but you can definitely see it in the bottle. The formula is a little runny, but surprisingly opaque. Although it’s not a one-coater, it’s very close!

The last shade in my February trio is called Vondelpark, which can look almost black on the nails. In reality, it’s actually a very dark purple high-gloss creme, think almost black eggplant or grapes. A beautiful shade with a lot of depth to it, indeed! The formula is thick and rich, so one coat is all you need to get that perfect even coverage. I actually rocked this shade on my nails for two weeks straight because I love it so much! This winter has been harsh on my nails and I just kept breaking them all the time. But guess what, dark polishes look great on short nails so yay! 🙂

MY THOUGHTS:

While SquareHue February 2016 trio didn’t completely wow me, I think all three of these colors are all perfectly wearable and will work with lots of different outfits. My favorite color in the box was Vondelpark, because it’s just so different from everything else I have in my stash.

P.S.: I will get my review of SquareHue March 2016 collection up as soon as possible 😉
