Since the beginning of the year Square Hue has been taking us on trips to popular destinations around the world. August collection was inspired by the glitz and glamour of Beverly Hills, CA, and included three stunning shimmery shades: Rodeo Drive, Canon Drive, and Wilshire Boulevard.

Rodeo Drive stood out to me the second I opened the box. But seriously, who could resist this breathtaking platinum metallic shimmer in all its silvery glory? The formula is very pigmented and applies smoothly and evenly, and sets to a nice glossy finish. In the swatches I’m wearing two coats with no top coat.

Canon Drive is probably best described as a shimmery, almost frosty violet. This color can be a bit tricky to apply, because it tends to accentuate nail ridges, making them more visible. That problem can be easily fixed by applying a nice thick layer of base coat, but in the swatches I’m simply wearing an extra layer of Seche Vite top coat. I am seriously in love with this color, and will do anything to make it work. Stunning, simply stunning!

Wilshire Boulevard is the darkest color among the three; it’s best described as a cool sapphire shimmer. The shimmery particles in this one are so fine, that it sets with very reflective, almost mirror-like finish. When I look at it, I keep thinking about Fall/Winter season, when I usually rock these deep vampy colors.

Just in case you wanted to see the brushes – they are short and thin. I know some people don’t like thin brushes, but I actually think they help me control the polish better. They are also very firm and keep their shape well, so I bet I could even do some simple nail art without making a mess.

THE VERDICT
The selection of colors in August box was fantastic and totally appropriate for this transitional month. I also can’t stop looking at Square Hue’s official monthly look book; talk about fancy-schmancy inspiration, am I right? My favorite polish this month would have to be Canon Drive [purple], but the other two colors will definitely be used a lot in the upcoming months.
What is your favorite color from the collection?
