I’ve been in a subscription box rut lately, and nothing seems to excite me anymore. However, one thing always snaps me out of it: international beauty boxes that ship to the US. There’s something intriguing about trying products not readily available in the stores. I scoured Cratejoy to see what international beauty boxes they have in the database, and stumbled upon several interesting ones. I placed my request on Friday and received So Susan Lip Love July 2016 box the following Tuesday. Talk about fast international shipping!
Before I get into more details about the products I received, I wanted to share my other top choices from Cratejoy Marketplace. Here are the TOP 5 SUBSCRIPTION BOXES currently on my wishlist:
1 // Terra Bella Box – Small batch, handmade beauty products that are natural and cruelty-free. I read reviews about this box before and they were all glowing!
2 // Eco-Cha Tea Club – Unique oolong teas made by small family businesses, delivered from Taiwan. I love tea!
3 // papergang – A monthly stationery subscription that makes me ooh and aah about all of those cute cards and envelopes and other goodies in the box. I don’t think I would want a year-long subscription, but I’d love to try it out for 2-3 months 🙂
4 // Lavish Bath Box – Jumping in a hot bath is my favorite way to relax and unwind, so as soon as I saw this box on Cratejoy website I knew we were meant to be. I will definitely treat myself with a month or two around Christmas.
5 // Goddess Provisions – A monthly box with crystals, aromatherapy, superfoods, beauty & spiritual tools. Sounds a little kooky, but I am actually intrigued.
Do any of these boxes sound interesting to you, too, or is it just me? There are lots more to pick from of course, but for now I have it narrowed down to these five so I will probably try them over the course of this year. I’ll let you know if I discover any favorites, of course.
Okay, now back to my So Susan Lip Love July 2016 box review.
HOW IT WORKS:
For $20.95/month So Susan Lip Love subscribers will receive a collection of 4 full-sized, cruelty-free on-trend makeup products, all packed within an eco-friendly canvas makeup bag with inspirational beauty quotes from the curators’ favorite authors & poets. Click here to subscribe.
CONTENTS:
1 // Trifle Creamsicle in Acerola [$17.95, available here] – I am legitimately obsessed with this tinted lip balm! It smells like fruits, hydrates my lips, and makes them look so plump and healthy! Plus, the packaging is absolutely adorable.
2 // Jelly Pong Pong Neapolitan Eye Shadow Palette [$17.95, available here] – This palette is really tiny, but the size is perfect for carrying around in a small makeup bag. Three neutral colors are quite pigmented and complement each other perfectly
3 // So Susan Blush & Glow in Rose Rust [$22.95, available here] – Is your cheeks but better a thing? Because it should be. Rose Rust is part blush part highlighter, and the peachy-mauvey color adds just the right amount of warmth to the cheeks without making it too obvious that you’re wearing makeup.
4 // So Susan Moisturizing Soft-Focus Peptide Foundation SPF15 in Warm Beige [$24.95, available here] – Including a full-sized bottle of foundation in a subscription box is a risky move, after all everybody has different skin tone and undertones. While it was a bit too dark and too warm for me, I decided to give it a try anyway to see what the formula is like. This foundation has sheer coverage, and feels pretty comfortable on the skin. It also has slightly powdery fragrance that isn’t too noticeable, but I could catch whiffs of it from time to time. if I had to guess the MAC alternative, I think this one is between NW20 and 25.
BOTTOM LINE:
Trying products from So Susan Lip Love July 2016 box was definitely an interesting experience. It was a nice mix of things, almost enough for a complete full-face makeup look. Judging from the name of this subscription it’s easy to assume that the boxes focus heavily on lip products, but after looking up reviews from previous boxes that doesn’t seem to be the case. You can treat So Susan as a brand-centric makeup box with occasional skincare inclusions. Basically, if you like cruelty-free berry-scented makeup in cutesy packaging, this international beauty box is worth a try!
ABOUT CRATEJOY:
If international beauty boxes are not your thing, Cratejoy has lots of other options available. There are fandom boxes like The Fan Empire, Geekmebox, and Comicboxer, pet subscription boxes for your furbabies, home DIY subscriptions, and many others! I’ve actually been eyeing Beauteque Monthly and Jini Beauty box, too: they both offer a curated assortment of Korean skincare and makeup on a monthly basis, and you know I’m all about that!
Right now Cratejoy is hosting a special giveaway among their customers. Everyone who purchases a subscription through Cratejoy Marketplace is automatically entered into the raffle for a chance to win one of four free 3-month plans on any subscription service they buy. I don’t know about you, but I certainly wouldn’t mind another 3 months of So Susan Lip Love 😉 Good luck!

I’m not familiar with Cratejoy, but I’m curious now. I love the look of the So Susan box you got. I need to get my hands on that adorable little eyeshadow palette. SO pretty!!
Wow – these sound great. And I love So Susan – the cutest packaging!
I want all of these subbie boxes – they sound so different. I’ve always liked the So Susan boxes I’ve seen when Renu reviews hers and yours looks terrific. Such cute items. I am so curious about the So Susan foundation. That shade looks like it would be perfect for me!
I haven’t gotten a sub box in awhile. Love your So Susan box and I will definitely order the Lavish box too. Thanks for this post! I also think a sub to some of these boxes would be great for gift giving!
The colour cosmetics in the So Susan box look wonderful. And the other boxes you teased… I would be happy to welcome them to my family. The products in the pictures look divine.
So Susan’s box has been on my mind. The posts I’ve seen about it always seem to have products I’d like. Goddess Provisions would be perfect for my blog partner.
I used to love the So Susan bags and subscribed to them for most of 2015. Sadly, I’ve had to force myself to cut down on subscriptions and stick to one or two.
The eye shadows look so great! Very smooth and super pigmented. This is definitely and interesting beauty box!
You have me wanting to try this now!
papergang and lavish look amazinggggggg! So Susan has wonderful products so that’s an awesome box to get too!
Wow – super pigmented products. I have heard such great things from this brand over the years and tried a lip pencil from a friend a few months back that I thought was really nice.
