A couple days ago I shared my thoughts on Face Velvet Tuber Lotion, so it makes sense to follow up with a review of its companion product – Truffle Velvet Serum. Just like the moisturizer, I used this serum twice a day on most days [sometimes once] for 5 weeks, and the results are in.
According to Skin&Co “this serum is formulated to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and bring hydration and moisture to the skin while brightening and revitalizing your complexion.” The company recommends it for all skin types to address dullness, dryness and fine lines.

Just like the lotion, Truffle Velvet Serum comes in convenient pump packaging to reduce the chance of cross-contamination as well as to preserve the efficacy of active ingredients. One push of the pump dispenses plenty of product, actually I even thought it was too much, so I opted for half a push. That amount was just enough to fully cover my face and neck, and even some of the decolletage area.
The texture of this serum looks and feels like runny gel, making it very easy to spread, unlike the moisturizer from the same line. Immediately after the application my skin always stings a little for a few minutes before absorbing completely. This quality makes Truffle Velvet Serum especially nice for people with oily and combination skin, since it can be hard to find non-greasy quick-absorbing serums sometimes.
It’s hard to talk about the effectiveness of serums because they’re used under the moisturizer, but I’ve been pairing it together with Face Velvet Lotion, which is from the same line, and I feel like they enhanced each other’s properties. I used this serum alone on a couple occasions, and it actually moisturizes pretty well, even though it doesn’t seem that way when you first try it, mainly because you don’t expect it from a runny gel that leaves no trace on the surface of the skin after it’s absorbed. Other than that, like I mentioned in my lotion review, I noticed some improvement to my laugh lines, and one of the forming lines on my forehead completely disappeared.
Truffle Velvet Serum has the same amazing signature scent as the rest of the Truffle line, and I really think Skin&Co should consider making a fragrance, because I’d totally wear it!
THE VERDICT
This fast-absorbing, lightweight, gel-like serum moisturizes the skin surprisingly well, and diminishes the appearance of fine lines over time. I used it for five weeks, and I still have 2/3 of the tube left, that’s how very little you need!

I love gel serums that aren’t oily! This one sounds fancy too!
It really is quite indulgent, and absorbs quickly 🙂 What’s not to love?
I love that it absorbs quickly
That is quite a nice quality 🙂
Seems like an nice serum.
It’s a really great one, my skin just drank it up 🙂
I don’t think I’ve tried a gel serum yet! Everything from this brand sounds amazing so far!
It’s a very impressive line of products, I must admit.
You have me lusting after the entire Skin line. I love gel moisturizers!
You and me both 🙂 This one is perfect for layering with other skin care products.
I love serums. You’re so right, though – my skin is oilier now, and it’s often a waiting game for the serums to absorb in. Sounds like you’ve had a great experience with this product line!
I definitely did, and it’s a brand I can certainly recommend.
I got a mini of this in one of my recent subscription boxes! I def need a larger size now!
Glad you also liked it as much as I did. It’s a fabulous product, isn’t it?
