Sephora X Demolition Swatches and Review

Sephora X is the new line of Sephora Brand nail polishes formulated for the best balance of shine, color laydown, wear, and gloss retention. After checking out the collection, I decided that most colors weren’t all that unique, however, their glitters were absolutely stunning, and many of them even look like something an indie brand would sell. I picked up one of such indie-inspired glitter bombs in Demolition because I don’t have anything even remotely close to that in my stash.

Demolition was released as part of Xplosives Top Coats Fall 2013 Collection, which includes fourteen beautiful matte glitter bombs. Here’s the shade description from Sephora website:

“A next generation graffiti art nail lacquer that fuses matte glitter particles in assorted shapes and sizes for a paint-splatter effect. Demolition – blue, turquoise, lime and orange confetti.”

I’m usually not a fan of long and thin brushes, but in this case I didn’t mind. I think it allows for a more precise application and assists in spreading the glitter evenly all over the nail. Here are a few swatches when I used it alone as well as when I tried it over different polishes just to see what it works well with.

Over Lime Crime Crema de Limon

Over Zoya Gie Gie

Over Zoya Kennedy

Over Zoya Tracie

Over Julep Nikki

Over Julep Natalie

I think I like all of them except layered over Julep Nikki, but I wasn’t super crazy about that base color to begin with. Just like most glitters, this top coat was a pain in the neck to remove, but I guess we sign up for that the moment we decide to put it on.

Sephora X nail polishes are 3-free and do not contain formaldehyde, DBP (dibutyl phthalate) or toluene.
