In July Sample Society re-launched as a same-old-but-new subscription service, and after considering all the feedback they received from customers over the past months, they now promise to include a better variety of items in the boxes. The July box contains a mix of five amazing sample-sized and full-sized products, centered around the Summer Love theme. Box curator and Allure Beauty Director Patricia Tortolani hand-picked each sample to help achieve effortless Summer glow without wearing too much product. Let’s see what we got!
HOW IT WORKS
For $15/month Sample Society will send its members 5 deluxe-sized samples from beauty brands like stila, Murad, Sisley, Alterna, Butter London, and Borghese and a $10 off $50 monthly discount code. As a bonus all new members receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Allure magazine (a $12.00 value). There is no official word about that anywhere, but the magazine just randomly shows up in your mailbox one day.

Fekkai PrX Reparatives Intense Fortifying Masque – I have been using Fekkai products on and off almost a decade, so I know that most of them work well for me, and this masque was no exception. This masque will fit right in with my current routine, because my hair ends get especially dry at Summer, so I nourish them with oils and masks to keep them in good shape. First impression – it smells absolutely heavenly, like a cupcake with sweet almond frosting. If it can make my hair smell that way, too, then I just might dish out for a full-sized jar.
Butter London Nail Lacquer in The Old Bill – Love getting full-sized nail polish in subscription boxes, even better if it’s from a fantastic brand like Butter London. Bronze shades are a fantastic choice for Summer, so I’m really excited that Sample Society sent these. I will be posting swatches in a separate post soon.
L’Oreal Paris Extraordinaire in Ruby Opera – I’ve been dying to try these lippies! Out of four possible colors, I received the one I liked the least, but at least I get to sample the formula, and I must say, these are every bit as fabulous as their department store counterparts from YSL. I will be giving this one to my mom, because she looks good with this color on, and I bet she will fall in love with the formula, too.
Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlighter 01 – I have never seen a sample-sized product from this brand before, so I didn’t even think they made them, but wow, this is the cutest highlighter sample ever, and so generous, too! The shimmery particles are ultra-fine, finer than any other highlighter I own, and look really natural. It’s my new favorite highlighter!
Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris Aqua Universalis Eau de Toilette – I have seen this fragrance advertised in magazines and always wanted to try it, but never thought I’d have the opportunity unless I asked for a sample at the counter, so this is another winner! This unisex scent boasts notes of sicilian bergamot, lemon, lily of the valley, orange blossom, and musky woods that smell clean and sexy at the same time. I’m really digging citrus fragrances these days so this sample will be in my rotation probably until it runs out.
THE VERDICT
You pretty much already know what I’m going to say about Sample Society re-launch, so I would like to ask you instead, what do you think? I’m really hoping they can keep with this quality and diversity of drugstore-department store-high end sample ratio, because it really seems to be working here. Give us the best of the best, Sample Society, and we will love you!

I wish I could still order this box. It looks amazing!
It was a good one for sure. There’s a rumor that Allure officially took over Sample Society, so now they are the sole curators of the box. Here’s hoping that it means more boxes like this one in the future!
