Voted by SPA professionals as one of the leading all-natural bodycare lines in the US, FarmHouse Fresh is a brand worth putting on your radar. Their packaging style can be described as rustic chic; there’s something darling and simple about those glass jars and squeeze tubes that make me dream of homemade treats. These are treats, too, actually, but for the body!
I had a chance to try the company’s best-selling Brandy Pear Sea Salt Body Polish and Rainbow Road Shea Butter Hand Cream [you might’ve seen bloggers rave about these before], and brand new Facial Buffing Bisquits that were released earlier this Summer.
The scrub was number one on my list to try from FarmHouse Fresh. After all, with scents like Brandy Pear, Watermelon-Basil Vodkatini, or Butter Rum those are not your daughter’s bubblegum scented body exfoliants. There’s something quirky, fun, and at the same time grown-up and sophisticated about these. They won’t make you feel like Dita swimming in a giant glass of champagne, but it’s pretty close! 😉
Brandy Pear Sea Salt Body Polish is made with 98% natural ingredients plus an insignificant amount of preservatives to keep your scrub fresh longer. And yes, it does in fact contain real brandy distilled from ripe Bartlett pears grown in the sunny California. FarmHouse Fresh says it takes at least a pound of pears, crushed and fermented, to distill enough brandy for one jar! The formula is infused with sea salt for physical exfoliation and rice bran oil to moisturize and protect the skin.
All of my jet-setting gals will appreciate this next product! Sold in an airport-friendly tube, Rainbow Road Shea Butter Hand Cream is the perfect companion for dry and dehydrated hands. Its 97% natural formula includes whipped shea butter, Vitamin E, soybean and other oils in perfect proportion, so the cream absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave the skin feeling sticky to touch. P.S.: It can totally be used for your knees and elbows, too.
Rainbow Road is not exactly a descriptive name for a scent. According to FarmHouse Fresh, it’s a gentle mix of coconut and bartlett pear that is subdued enough even for scent-sensitive people. And yes, it works really well together with the scrub I mentioned above, since they both smell like sweet pears. There is also a body lotion available in the same scent, in case you are more interested in that.
A couple months ago I was offered to review a similar type cleanser: it was shaped like tablets, which you crush in your balm, then add some water, and rub on the skin. I was totally not interested, but guess what? As soon as I saw these adorable bisquits housed in paper egg holders, I couldn’t resist giving them a try! What can I say, I’m weak to marketing tricks, which makes me the perfect target demo, but I digress 🙂
Mango-Poppy Seed Facial Buffing Biscuits look like cookies, don’t they? Each bisquit is large enough for four treatments, so there are 16 total uses per package. Considering that most people exfoliate their face once or twice a week, these should last a pretty long time.
As I mentioned earlier, they are very easy to use – just chip off one of the corners, crumble the cookie between your palms, and add a little bit of water. The result surprised me – I expected muddy consistency, sort of like DIY clay masks, but instead of was foamy and a little fluffy. The resulting paste was mildly exfoliating and felt extremely gentle; I have a few sensitive spots on my face that get red when I use abrasive products, and only one of them – my chin – got a little pinker. By the way, these are 100% natural. Woot!
All in all, I am very happy with this trio, enough to potentially add this brand to my Christmas shopping list. The products are packaged beautifully and work well, while the scents are out of this world amazing. I urge you to take a look around FarmHouse Fresh website, they have lots of really cool things for sale, like this body lotion sold in a decorative cruet, or this candle that looks like ice cream.
