Quick K-Beauty Reviews: SKIN1004
Here’s another round of quick skincare reviews, this time featuring a viral kbeauty brand that took over my FYP page. SKIN1004 became popular thanks to their affordable and elegant formulations, and gentle products with Centella Asiatica that work for a wide range of skin types.
SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Glow Sun Ampoule SPF50+ ($19.99) is a nourishing milky essence that helps protect the skin from the sun. The formula features organic (chemical) filters so it leaves no white cast. This is a daily, non-waterproof sunscreen with an elegant lotiony finish. It feels and wears like skincare, and works well as a base for makeup. For situations where you expect to swim or sweat excessively, I’d recommend choosing a different product. This particular formula is not sweat-resistant, so don’t wear it at the beach, for active sports, or for hiking.
SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Poremizing Quick Clay Stick Mask ($9.99) comes in an easy swipe-on & wash-off stick format for a quick, mess-free application. If you like to bring masks on your travels, this one makes a perfect TSA-friendly option. The formula features kaolin clay, CICA, and Red Bean powder that together help purify congested pores and calm redness. You can also use it as a cleanser, just rinse off without waiting for the mask to harden on your skin.
SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Tone Brightening Capsule Ampoule ($17.79) is among the brand’s most “active” products, boasting 4% Niacinamide, 2% Tranexamic Acid, a stable form of Vitamin C, and proprietary brightening ingredient Madewhite™. The formula is very gentle but effective, with encapsulated actives that have been proven to diminish skin discoloration over time, swimming in a nourishing glycerin-rich clear base. I think it would have been better if it came in a tinted bottle. The formula contains Vitamin C which is known to degrade in the presence of sunlight, even if it’s a stable form.
