As a little girl I’ve always wanted to be a princess that grows up to be a queen of her own beautiful kingdom. I didn’t quite understand the concept of what it takes to actually rule one, but the idea of living in a fancy castle surrounded by a rose garden and having my own personal butler was very appealing. Fast forward 30 years I feel like my childhood dream came true somewhat, because I own this small corner of the internet, which I am super proud of.
I hate to use tired, cliche terms, but this ‘journey’ was not without its challenges. I know I rarely share what goes on behind the scenes, but there were many times when I wanted to call it quits. After all, it’s hard to show weakness when people come to you expecting entertaining and helpful content. Sometimes you have to look strong and confident even when you’re crumbling inside. I feel like women truly mastered the art, because we often have to be strong not just for own own sake, but for those around us too. That is why I love watching shows with strong female leads, and seeing how those women overcome various challenges life throws at them. Our backgrounds and lifestyles may be different, but there’s a lot we can learn from each other.
Princess of my own castle.
One of the shows I’ve been binging on lately is Queen of the South on USA Network. It tells the story of Teresa Mendoza, a woman who was forced to flee her home in order to survive, and what it took to become the Queen of her own empire. Teresa’s life is very different from my own, but I can relate to a lot of her inner struggles. Her resolve and strength of character are so admirable, and she is the ultimate boss babe!
Overlooking the empire.
I don’t want to spoil the show for you, but it’s truly worth watching if you love a good revenge story. You can’t stop rooting for the lead character, even though she is a bad girl herself. The plot has enough twists to keep me entertained with every episode, so of course I’m excited that Queen of the South returns to USA Network for its third season on Thursday, June 21st at 9/8c. The season will air each week every Thursday after! You still have time to catch up on S1 & S2 before the first episode airs – both previous seasons are currently available on Netflix.
