Prestige Cosmetics On The Prowl, Bewitched, The Chase, Hocus Pocus Total Intensity Eye Shadows Review, Swatches, Pictures

“Department store quality at drugstore prices” – this catchphrase sounds both annoyingly familiar and intriguing at the same time. Prestige Cosmetics are offering just that with their new Total Intensity line that features highly pigmented long-lasting eye shadows, lipsticks, eyeliners and mascara. For this review I received four colors: On The Prowl and The Chase from Color Rush collection; and Hocus Pocus and Bewitched from Fierce Color collection.

Total Intensity Fierce Color Eye Shadows (L to R): Hocus Pocus, Bewitched

Bewitched is a duochrome shade that looks like a sandy taupe in the pan, but when applied to the skin it turns rusty and reveals subtle golden and beetle green shimmers. This shade is perfect to wear alone all-over the lid, because the color will naturally shift from creases to blended out areas, making it look like you’re wearing three different products.

Hocus Pocus is a very unique duochrome that shifts from reddish brown to teal, with both colors being equally intense. It seems like a nice all-over lid color for an evening out, it will shift from teal to brown every time it catches the light creating a dramatic metallic ombre effect.

I’ve seen similar shades from department store brands, but never dared to buy them, thinking I’d just waste my money and the pans will sit in the drawer collecting dust. If you feel the same way, then you should definitely check out Total Intensity Fierce Color collection for these fun and quirky duochromes. The formula is buttery soft and creamy, and really has the feel of higher end eye shadows. I’d say the quality is seriously comparable to UD shimmers, it’s that good! Those of you who love customizing your beauty products will be happy to know that these pans are easily de-pottable and fit perfectly into MAC Pro eye shadow palettes. Like most shimmers, these shades slightly wear off by the end of the day, but I didn’t notice any creasing, which is good news.

Total Intensity Color Rush Eye Shadows (L to R): On the Prowl, The Chase

On The Prowl is a beautiful bronze metallic with antique gold shimmer. It applies and wears “true to pan”, so the color you see when you open the lid is exactly the way it will look on your eyes. It’s fairly pigmented, but not as much as the previous two colors. I think it’s a very versatile base shade that can be used for a classic business-appropriate look for the daytime and then transformed into a hot smoky eye for the night.

The Chase is a lilac metallic with fine pink shimmer. To my surprise, the color payoff was a bit worse than other three shades mentioned above. Because it’s a bit on the sheer side, I decided that it’s best used as a topper to add some fun sparkles when layered over other colors. It looks especially beautiful over a black base!

Look at that gorgeous imprint!
… and another one!

Shades from Total Intensity Color Rush collection felt less buttery than Fierce Color, and not as pigmented. The pans feature beautiful imprint design that reminds me of those zen sand gardens with monks raking the lines around the perimeter to reach enlightenment. It’s one of those “beautiful unnecessaries” that high end brands like to treat us with at our expense, but it’s always nice to see a drugstore company going an extra mile with packaging. Both colors blend well and provide all-day wear without creasing or flaking off, which is an impressive feature for shimmers and metallics.
