POPSUGAR Must Have Unboxing and Review: September 2013

October is only a few days away, but POPSUGAR MustHave page still shows the August box reveal. Although, who am I to say anything, since I’m posting my review only now, about 10 days after I actually received my package. Before I get into the details, I’ll say that this was an OK Popsugar month, probably one of my least favorite actually, but still not terrible enough that I would call it straight up bad.

Barr-Co. Reed Diffuser
Never thought that a reed diffuser would be the big ticket item in our boxes, yet here it is. At first I was a bit upset, and not because I honestly can’t tell the difference between a $45 and $15 diffuser, I just thought that it means we won’t be getting any other awesome items this month. I read the list of the ingredients and decided to set it up in the living room, because from the sound of it, it should smell good. I must say, this diffuser really grew on me over the past week! My living room now smells like sugar and cupcakes with a hint of some other warm floral fragrance, and it’s always such a pleasure to get a whiff of this scent when I enter the room. Would I pay $45 again to get more? Definitely not, but I will always remember this delightful but unnecessary luxury that I could experience thanks to POPSUGAR MustHave.

“P.S. – You’re Invited…” Hardcover Book by by Erica Domesek
I’m not a DIY person so from a practical standpoint this book has no value to me. The projects in the book aren’t that great either, most of them can be classified as “cut some fabric, then glue it onto something”, but it sure is very pretty and colorful, so I decided to keep it in the living room for entertainment. Who doesn’t like browsing through books and magazines left on coffee tables?

Rifle Paper Co. Botanical Coaster Set
These are very lovely paper coasters that would make a nice gift, and I can totally see them being a part of a DIY project. My husband and I normally use ceramic coasters, but I’ll be sure to save these for a special party.

KITSCH Headbands
Well, these are pretty much the same elastic headbands and ties that I received in many other subscription boxes. I do like the fact that they don’t damage my hair and don’t leave dents, and I also like that this set includes both everyday/muted colors as well as fun/bright colors. I’m actually wearing the brown one right now and it’s very comfy.

Sharkies Watermelon Scream Energy Chews
I pretty much devoured these chews, because they taste like candy! The energizing effect wasn’t instant, nor was it sudden, I just eventually realized that I have been acting very awake and focused, so I attributed that to my recent watermelony snack.

That’s It. Bar in Apples + Apricots
I had no idea before I read the package, but each bar has four servings of fruit in it! This particular bar was very VERY sour, probably even more sour than sour candy, but I still liked it enough to finish the bar. I appreciate the health benefits and the very short and readable ingredient list, I think it’s important to eat as few chamicals as possible, and I always lean toward healthier choices if I have those options.

Shoptiques $25 Gift Card
I did not redeem my gift card yet, because I still didn’t find anything I liked enough, but I’ll keep checking the site from time to time and maybe something pops up.

The verdict: As you can see, I had mixed feelings about this box, but I always enjoy the variety of the contents and there’s always at least one product I fall in love with every month. Note for those of you considering subscribing: October box has been sold out for at least a week now, and if you want to be on board for November you might want to act fast. As for me, I can’t wait to see what October brings! I’m secretly hoping for a cashmere scarf and some pumpkin scented products.
