Malin + Goetz Detox Face Mask – I love a good face mask, but I had no idea just how cool this one would be. When I first applied this lotiony-looking substance, it seemed like your typical emollient mask, but 2 minutes in my skin started crackling and bubbling, like a bunch of firecracker candy popping on my face all at once! Sounds totally crazy, but it wasn’t an unpleasant sensation at all; if anything it felt a little tickly 🙂 Too early to say if it’s effective or not, but it sure is fun! The mask comes in a tall 4oz pump bottle, so there’s enough product to last a while.

The Juice Generation Book – I haven’t tried the juicing trend yet, because it’s a pain to clean my juicer, and because it’s so huge it takes up a lot of counter space. I think I’m going to use these recipes for smoothies, because they sure sound delicious 🙂 Does anybody have a good healthy smoothie recipe to share? I’m open to suggestions.

Jack+Lucy Tech Gloves – I know some people probably didn’t care about this one, but I don’t have a pair of tech gloves, so I was happy to finally try them. They work really well with my Nexus, but I read a few negative comments on Facebook where people said they couldn’t get them to work with iPhones. Not sure how Apple screens are different from other smartphones, but that’s something to keep in mind.

Rifle Paper Co. 2014 Flip Around The World Desk Calendar – I love this company for their cutesy paper things, but a desk calendar would have probably been the last product I wanted to try from them. I mean, I’d even be okay with something like paper napkins, I just simply have zero use for a flip calendar. Someone suggested cutting out the artwork and framing it, which is probably what I’ll end up doing.

Pipsnacks White Truffle Pipcorn – Aww, so that’s what baby popcorn looks like 🙂 I don’t normally care for popcorn, but that white truffle flavor lured me in. I must say, the kernels are not evenly coated, and I had some totally bland pieces and some were bursting with truffle flavor. Overall, I thought it was delicious, and definitely tasted better than most other brands of packaged popcorn, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase more.

Revlon by Marchesa Box of Files – I’m very familiar with these pocket nail files, I actually own the same type with some kind of tropical theme printed on them. They don’t work as well as normal-sized files, but their tiny dimensions make them perfect to stash in your pockets, purses and makeup bags so you are never without one 🙂

The Juice Generation Book
Rifle Paper Co. 2014 Flip Around The World Desk Calendar – my hometown! 🙂

THE VERDICT
I’m undecided about this box. On one end I got to play with that fun M+G mask, that I would have never in a million years discovered on my own. I also got a pair of much-needed tech gloves, so I can use my phone comfortably even when it’s cold outside. On another end I have this super cute but totally useless to me desk calendar, and Revlon box of files that I already have a bunch of. I still have 6 more months left on my subscription, so we’ll see how that goes.

This particular box would not have been worth forty clams to me. But the popcorn sounded tasty. Not forty clams tasty…

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:46 am

No kidding! I wasn’t super wowed by this box, but I still have several months left on my prepaid subscription =/

  2. January 28, 2014 / 11:48 am

I have the same opinion!! Happy with the face mask and tech gloves, meh on everything else.

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:47 am

Yeah… kind of a “meh” box, but last year it was also pretty mediocre. Let’s hope they treat us to something really nice in February.

    Interesting box

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:49 am

At first I thought that way too, and then I looked and everything and felt a bit disappointed.

  4. January 28, 2014 / 12:42 pm

    those gloves are so cute!

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:49 am

I agree. I like that popsugar included neutral colors, that way these gloves can go with any outfit.

This box looks like so much fun!

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:50 am

It usually is, but January was a bit disappointing.

  6. January 28, 2014 / 1:32 pm

Love this! It’s probably not my fave out of all of the boxes I’ve seen the last few months, but I’d have definitely been happy to receive these goodies!

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:50 am

Not my favorite either, but also not the worst 🙂 let’s hope for a nice February box!

  7. January 28, 2014 / 2:55 pm

Such a great box! I think this one is on its way to me as well which is great because I really want that juicing book! Thanks for sharing!

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:51 am

Nice! I’m actually reading that book right now. So many tasty recipes!

  8. January 28, 2014 / 3:37 pm

Eh .. I’m not too keen on the products in the box. Not worth the $40 IMO

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:52 am

I know, I don’t feel like I got a good deal out of this one. Usually PSMH boxes are filed with fun things you never knew you needed, but this one was filled with many things I never would have wanted =/

  9. January 28, 2014 / 3:45 pm

This boxes are soo full! I’ve been wanting gloves like those

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:53 am

I was surprised how well they work, the screen only responds to those darker tips, and completely ignores swipes with gray areas.

  10. January 28, 2014 / 3:55 pm

I’ve gotten POPSUGAR boxes before… meh. Has to be some really good stuff for $40, and this wasn’t it. In one box, I got this awesome scrunchable/packable hat that I love, though. That mask sounds like fun!

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:54 am

Their boxes used to be so much better last year, and I loved every single one of them. Now the experience has been slowly going downhill, and this is 3 boxes in a row that i was not completely wowed with. I will get my remaining prepaid boxes, and cancel the subscription for good.

  11. January 28, 2014 / 7:46 pm

I used to subscribe to PopSugar. It was always a fun box to receive but I think that the box is too expensive. I’d have fun with that mask though.

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:55 am

Yep, I think I would much rather spend that money on something to pamper myself with, like an Hourglass blush or Chanel lipstick.

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:57 am

It’s the tiniest popcorn I’ve ever seen lol 😀

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:58 am

I woulda enjoyed the files too, but I already have a ton of these, that I got at Target on sale last year.

  12. January 28, 2014 / 8:45 pm

    That juice book looks good.

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:57 am

It’s actually more fun than I thought, I learned a lot of things, like the different benefits of juice vs smoothie, and which produce is better blended than juiced.

    • January 29, 2014 / 11:56 am

Agreed. I still have several months to go, and then I most likely will not be renewing.

  13. January 29, 2014 / 2:38 pm

I enjoy all of your subscription box posts – this one isn’t all that worth it to me, either.

    • January 29, 2014 / 3:30 pm

Yeah… sometimes I feel like I enjoy my $10 subscriptions more than this one.

    • February 4, 2014 / 9:06 pm

Hi there! Popsugar codes sometimes have a set number of uses before they become inactive. This one was such a good deal, so many people probably took advantage of it.
