If you live anywhere in the Northern hemisphere where it’s not sunshine and butterflies all year round, you are probably happy to finally bust out those dusty sundresses, shorts and skirts. With Summer right around the corner it’s time to rock fun carefree styles, including trendy beachy waves, that we’ve been seeing everywhere from the runways to fashion blogs.

Beachy waves tutorial for fine hair with John Frieda® Beach Blonde™ >> http://bit.ly/1FRqrN2 | via @glamorableToday I wanted to show you how I create perfect beachy waves on my fine hair using new John Frieda® Beach Blonde™ products. If you have the same hair type, you know that it can be incredibly hard to style it, and sometimes all it wants is to lay flat. Lucky for us, this particular style is ideal to give our fine locks the texture and the volume that we normally lack! Without further ado, here’s the tutorial.

I used John Frieda® Beach Blonde™ Cool Dip™ Shampoo and Beach BlondeSmooth Seas™ Conditioner to cleanse my hair and scalp of any oils and product residue, and to prep it for styling. They both have this cooling minty fragrance that makes taking a shower extra refreshing, especially in the Summer.

2. Let your hair dry. This is more of a “messy” style, so it doesn’t really matter whether you blow-dry or air-dry your hair. Since air-drying is a healthier option, that’s what I usually do.

3. Detangle and brush your hair, because we’re about to give it some heat!

4. Using a curling wand, quickly curl 1″ sections of your hair. Don’t hold too long, because we want a loose beachy wave, not tight princessy coils this time. For example, I hold my fine hair for about 7 seconds before releasing.

5. After you’re finished curling all of your hair, comb through again and start spraying with a texturizer. I used Beach Blonde™ Sea Waves™ Sea Salt Spray starting from my ends and added some to the roots as well. Don’t forget to gently scrunch your waves while the texturizer is still wet, that’ll help it hold the shape better! Tip: I also flipped by hair back and generously sprayed at the nape of neck for additional volume.

And that’s it! This is a super easy way to achieve perfect beachy waves, and it makes your hair smell nice, too! If you’re into sweet and summery coconutey scents, you’re going to really enjoy this one.

So regardless of your hair type or color, don’t shy away from this line – it’s designed for creating effortless beachy styles in a snap. I’m a redhead and I love it!

Haha, I love your TA-DA pic! John Frieda stuff is awesome – I used to use their products way back when. I love sea salt sprays too – they usually smell amazing!

Haha, thanks! 🙂 This one smells like coconuts, and the shampoo + conditioner both smell like mojito.

Your hair looks great. I also love your makeup, especially the lip color.

Thank you! Due to photo filters the lip color appears pinker than it is, but it’s actually NYC 450 Pure Coral.

Haha, thanks Allison!! It took me forever to pick selfies for it, because I’m overly self-critical 🙂

Thanks for sharing this. I would have passed it by thinking it was just for blondes.

    • June 3, 2015 / 9:43 am

Thank you Amber! <3 I think it's a great choice for those of us with fine hair, and it doesn't make it feel crunchy.

    • June 3, 2015 / 9:39 am

I agree, this style is great for Summer, and doesn’t matter if the wind messes it up a bit. And thank you! <3 XX

I initially wasn’t a fan of beachy waves, but that style grew on me lately, probably because it helps add some volume to my fine hair.

I love that you just used a brush and these products, no heat. Your hair looks beautiful.

  9. June 3, 2015 / 12:21 am

Nice!! My hair would never ever do anything like that haha That’s part of the reason I keep it short 🙂

    • June 3, 2015 / 9:40 am

Girl, I totally understand, mine might look all fab and nice in pictures, but it’s unruly and frizzy and refuses to hold hair styles, that’s why I’m hunting down products that actually work 🙂

  10. June 3, 2015 / 12:41 am

Beach waves on me are a bit tricky! I kinda hate you a little for having such gorgeous hair that can either be straight or wavy! just kidding!

    • June 3, 2015 / 9:35 am

Haha, girl, trust me, it takes a lot of effort to get it to hold any style, usually it’s just straight and frizzy… Oh, and super fine, too!

    • June 3, 2015 / 9:35 am

It’s not a style I wear often, but I might after this. And thank you! <3 <3

  12. June 3, 2015 / 7:37 pm

Girl… you are all kind of gorgeous. Beachy waves are not too easy for me unless my curls are pulled out, then I can rock it but you look fab.

    • June 4, 2015 / 10:03 pm

Ahh, you are so sweet Honey! You have natural beachy waves that I can only dream of 😉

  13. June 3, 2015 / 9:53 pm

I love how you created your waves. They look great, and the added texture from the spray really makes a difference I can see. Gorgeous! #client

    • June 4, 2015 / 10:04 pm

Thank you Michelle! I liked that the sea salt spray added texture without drying out my hair.
