In November I shared a quick Instagram review of the new Ofra Cosmetics Retrograde Highlighter ($35) that was sold exclusively at Ulta during the holidays. I already love Ofra’s baked highlighter formula and this limited edition duo didn’t disappoint either, but what I didn’t expect was how much use I’d get out of this one.

Retrograde Highlighter has two shades baked into a single pan. It includes:

  • Star Island (warm ivory)
  • Neptune (icy lavender)

They both feature Ofra’s signature liquid-to-baked technology that densely compresses the pearly shimmers to offer unparalleled pigment payoff and ethereal glow.

Star Island is a pale, pastel yellow with a warm golden shimmer that gives the skin a “golden hour” glow, adds warmth to the skin, and enhances luminosity. This shade looks especially flattering during the daytime, especially when the sun is out.

Neptune is a beautiful pastel lavender that gives the skin a moonlit effect. With its cold and mysterious glow, this cool-toned shimmer illuminates the high points and shows up beautifully in low-light conditions.

These two shades can be worn as eyeshadows too, and I actually do that often with my other Ofra baked highlighters since this particular formula performs beautifully on both the lids and the cheeks. The color payoff is always impressive even if you only use one swipe of a brush, and the soft baked pigments are so easy to blend out to prevent any harsh edges. The opacity can also be controlled: you can achieve an intense metallic glow or a subtle dewy effect with the same product. All in all, Ofra highlighters have fantastic versatility which makes them a firm favorite among beauty fans and fellow influencers!

So, why did I decide to write a blog review even though I already reviewed Ofra Cosmetics Retrograde Highlighter on my Instagram several months ago? I wanted to gift one to a friend in Russia who keeps complimenting it when I wear it for our Skype calls and I noticed that it’s actually on sale at Ulta right now! So if you were contemplating this purchase for a while or didn’t feel like paying full price, now’s the time because they’re listed at 50% off. I don’t know how long the sale will last, but I thought it was an amazing deal and just had to share it with you guys! I already grabbed mine, did you? 🙂

What do you think about this duo? Have you tried Ofra highlighters before?

Ofra Cosmetics Retrograde Highlighter is available at Ulta (on sale!) and ofracosmetics.com.
