Whenever I talk about NOW Foods, I occasionally get asked for recommendations. After all, NOW has an entire family of brands under its umbrella, with hundreds of different products to choose from. Today I wanted to give you a little roundup of some of my current favorites that I think you would love, too. This time it’s more of a food & lifestyle roundup, and next time I will share my beauty picks, because NOW offers a pretty extensive range of personal care products, too.
Ellyndale Organic Extra Virgin Sesame Seed Oil ($10.99 for 8.45 fl oz) – I’ve been really into cooking Asian food lately, and this oil goes into everything, from stir fries to plain rice on the side. I love the flavor – it’s mild enough to not overpower the dish, but also gives that nutty sesame seed kick that really elevates everything on the plate.
NOW Advanced Gamma E Complex ($35.99 for 120ct) – So I recently watched this Ted talk, and it totally blew my mind, because brain health is something I’ve been thinking about a lot. In the past year I put a lot of effort into making sure I get enough sleep, exercise, fruit, vegetables, and nutrients in general, and really focusing on foods that help maintain a healthy body. Vitamin E is an excellent antioxidant, so I picked the Gamma E Complex and so far I’m very happy with it! It is said that consuming too much of a single form of Vitamin E can reduce the absorption of all other forms. Luckily, Advanced E Complex provides the full range of Vitamin E protection with a more natural balance of Tocopherols plus a full complement of Tocotrienols.
NOW Double Strength Black Currant Oil ($28.99 for 100ct) – I used to get my Omegas 3 and 6 from fish oil, but decided to try something new this time and switched to black currant oil instead for heart health support. Love that there’s no fishy aftertaste!
NOW Real Food Organic Brazil Nuts Unsalted ($8.49 for 10 oz) – I don’t use brazil nuts as a snack, instead I use them as a dietary supplement, because they’re an excellent natural source of selenium. I like to eat 2-3 nuts a day to boost my immune system and load up on essential antioxidants. Pro tip: refrigerate after opening to keep the nuts from going rancid. I’ve made that mistake once, never again.
NOW Real Food Organic Whole, Raw Cashews Unsalted ($7.99 for 10 oz) – The most delicious raw cashews I’ve ever had, period! They are soft and sweet, and don’t need any salt at all. I snack on these in-between meals and they make me feel full until dinner time, because cashews are also an excellent source of non-animal protein! 🙂
Living Now Gluten-Free Baking and Pancake Mix ($5.99 for 17 oz) – As it turns out, gluten is one of my biggest migraine triggers, and I had no idea until very recently. I rarely eat it nowadays, so my migraines are down to 2-3 per month instead of every other day or two. It was a huge improvement and all I did was change my diet a little bit. Anyhow, I think gluten-free foods can be absolutely delicious! My husband, however, associates gluten-free diet with bland, or bitter diet foods, and it took a lot of convincing to make him try a bite. Now we’re both huge fans of pancakes made with this mix, that includes whole grain sorghum flour, brown rice flour, tapioca flour, and potato flour. The mix already has baking powder in it, but I add a pinch more to make them extra fluffy.
NOW Real Tea Pau D’Arco Tea ($4.49 for 24ct) – I posted about this tea on Instagram a few weeks ago, and I still love it! The flavor is rich and complex, with lots of different notes, from chocolate to chai spices. Best of all – it’s caffeine-free, so I can enjoy it in the evening without disturbing my sleep schedule.
That’s it for my mini-roundup of NOW Foods must haves! Let me know if you give any of these a try, I would love to hear what you think.
Have you tried any NOW Foods products before? Which lifestyle products (supplements, foods, snacks) are you loving right now? Let me know in the comments below!
Thanks for the roundup!
The tea is caffeine free? Now that’s something I could drink.
Thank you for reminding me about Brazil nuts. Years ago, I used to make satay using Brazil nuts, and it was delicious. I was thinking I need to try that recipe out again. knowing that they’re a good source of selenium will make that dish into health food, lol. The Tea Pau D’Arco sounds great. When the weather cools down, that would be something I would love in the evenings.
Love nuts! I snack at work on pistachios. I’ll send this over to my hubby – he does all the cooking. 🙂
Mmm cashews! These all sound like wonderful products.
I like taking out gluten at meals. I also get migraines. Sesame oil is great for added flavor!
Lots of great stuff here!
