Masking It Up with NER:D Skincare

pr sample

You don’t see me writing about individual masks very often on this blog as I usually weave them into other stories, because after all it’s a one-time use treatment. However, today I wanted to share with you something very special and worthy of dedicating a review to – Biocellulose Mask Trio from NER:D Skincare, the brand’s flagship product.

Did you know that biocellulose mask sheets are not woven or crafted, they're grown! Find out more about this cool process in my NER:D Skincare review >> https://glamorable.com | via @glamorableNER:D Skincare is a new indie cosmetic company started by a group of lab nerds [as they lovingly call themselves] from Taiwan, driven by an ambitious quest to develop new science-based skin care solutions no one thought were possible. The company’s goal is to create ultimate beauty products by identifying and utilizing the best and most effective cutting edge scientific discoveries.

The best way to try these masks is to buy a Biocellulose Mask Trio – a sampler kit that includes all three types of masks the company currently makes: Miraculous Brightening Mask, Skin Repair Master Mask, and Super Hydrating Mask. Not only is it a slightly better deal than buying masks individually, it’s also beautifully packaged in a box, that can be easily wrapped if you plan to give these as a gift.

Unlike most sheet masks, NER:D’s biocellulose sheets are not printed, built, or woven; they’re grown. The magic happens when Acetic Acid Bacteria strain Acetobacter Xylinum [NER:D is the only company in the world that uses this strain for cosmetics] develops a sugary layer of polysaccharides, which is later harvested, cleaned, and cut into a mask shape. This process is widely used in medicine to treat burn victims, and it’s completely safe for the skin.

Find out more about this cool process in my NER:D Skincare review >> https://glamorable.com | via @glamorableAll three masks are suspended in white-ish essence that looks more like a runny lotion or a moisturizer. The formulas includes some of the best skin soothers, brighteners, moisturizers, and anti-inflammatories that we all love in skin care: Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, Aloe Vera, Allantoin, Squalane, Licorice Root Extract. Each of the three types of masks also includes unique and proprietary ingredients, like Defensil™ and PhytoCellTec™ in Skin Repair Mask.

I currently use regular $2-$5 sheet masks on daily basis, but NER:D formulas are so potent, they say using it once a month is sufficient enough. Bold claims from a one-time treatment! However, when I tried one of these, I was ready to eat my words before they even came out of my mouth, because the overall experience was nothing short of amazing. I tried Miraculous Brightening Mask, which soothed my skin and quenched it with so much moisture! I haven’t seen it get that hydrated after using a sheet mask before, and my first thought was how useful these will be on a long-haul flight.

Find out more about this cool process in my NER:D Skincare review >> https://glamorable.com | via @glamorableAfter using the mask I didn’t let that leftover liquid go to waste and threw a few cotton rounds in the baggie. When they finally absorbed the liquid, I put them in the fridge in a ziploc bag. Next morning I used those pre-soaked cotton rounds instead of my usual toner, and the effect was luxuriously refreshing!

In case you needed another reminder that these masks are nothing like anything you’ve ever tried, both NER:D Skincare technology and processes all have patents pending. These masks are unique, well-thought out, and extremely effective, and that is why you need to try them. Considering the technology, research, and work that goes into producing each of these, I believe the price premium is well-justified, and if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I’m not one to taut expensive products just because they’re expensive. I truly believe NER:D masks are exceptional!

WHERE TO BUY: $56 for 1 box of 3 masks. Available at NER:D Skincare.

What are your thoughts on sheet masks? Do you find them effective? Would you pay more for a one-time use product if it was truly effective? Let me know in the comments below!

Love sheet masks and particularly Asian ones. I don’t think I ever had a bad one.

I did have a couple duds, but they were those cheap dollar masks that can be irritating sometimes.

I just bought my first sheet mask for $8. I’m not sure I’d spend the $56 for three, but if it’s effective, I’d eally have to think on it!

Girl, I’d be hard pressed to dish out $20 per mask, too, but I am definitely going to get these for special events. I have a long-haul flight to Dubai in November, and I’ll pack two of these to recover from it.

My skin gets utterly destroyed on flights, even if they are short lol! I’m packing two of these for my trip on November 🙂

Pricey masks but I’d try it one of these days…

    • August 7, 2015 / 10:42 am

Very pricey for sure, it’s not something I could just casually use on the daily.

Wow! I’d love to try a Nerd. they sound amazing! Grown…the fact that they’re grown instead of a sheet slathered with stuff is…well…it’s awesome.

I was very surprised when I read that, too!

  10. August 7, 2015 / 3:39 am

Me, too, then I would just bathe in them :)))

Tossing cotton pads into the mask pack and saving them is a BRILLIANT idea! I usually dig into the empty packs and emerge with slimy fingers. Thank you for sharing that!

I actually read about that hack on some kbeauty blog a few months ago, and thought it was a genius idea, too!

Want a great idea to save some of the serum! Ugh – I’ve used so many too and I’m apparently losing out on product!

    • August 11, 2015 / 9:40 am

There’s definitely enough for 1-2 uses left over after each mask 🙂

    • August 11, 2015 / 9:41 am

I’m loving it so far, it’s like having that mask time without the mask next day.
