I received a very positive response to my last Nail Art for Short Nails post, so I decided to keep participating in this linkup as often as my nails allow. They’re not always going to be short, but on those weeks when I chop them down, I will be posting easy nail art ideas that anybody with basic skills can do.
This week I’m featuring this super easy tape manicure with butter LONDON All Hail the Queen as a holographic base, topped with Sephora Collection Chic & Rebel.
Tape is one of the most basic nail art tools, and if you don’t own any, you can easily cut thin stripes from plain Scotch tape and they will work just as well. I started by painting my nails with two nice coats of All Hail the Queen, waited for them to thoroughly dry, and applied striping tape in random places [those star patterns are totally ununtended!]. After making sure that all stripes are adhering well, I added two good coats of Chic & Rebel and immediately removed the tape.
I got a bit impatient and applied top coat before the black polish had a chance to dry thoroughly, and some of my lines got smudged as a result. If you make the same mistake don’t fret! You can’t notice these smudges at all from 2ft away, and most people are never going to be closer than that. And if someone is within that personal space area, chances are your nails is the last thing they care about if you know what I mean 🙂
Feel free to try this easy nail art idea and experiment with colors and textures! This is a very fun and versatile look that will never go out of style.
Lovely! I bought tape awhile ago, but haven’t used it yet. I love the color combo you picked. 🙂
Thank you! This easy technique works with all color combinations 🙂
Cute! I love the little pop of shimmer peeking through the black!
Thank you, Stephanie! This color combo was inspired by one of the posts from Lucy’s Stash, she used a similar holographic bottom with a black top 🙂
wow. it’s really so pretty
Thank you so much!
