I don’t buy Memeboxes much anymore, but sometimes when they feature certain ingredients I just can’t pass. Memebox Milk Box sounded like it would have just the right selection of products for my picky taste!
HOW IT WORKS: Memebox is not a typical subscription service. They periodically curate boxes filled with assorted beauty products popular among Koreans, and those Limited Edition bundles are sold on first come first serve basis. Prices vary depending on the type of the box. At this time Memebox ships to USA, China and Korea. All themed boxes tend to sell out fast, so by the time you read this review this particular box probably won’t be available for sale anymore. Click here to see available boxes.

I’ll just start with the dud first to get it out of the way – Secret Key Milk Whipping Cleansing Foam, which has a very high pH9.5 that could really throw my skin off balance. I would have loved for it to work for me, because this cleanser contains donkey milk, which is a fun ingredient that you don’t see often in beauty products.
How to use: Lather up a pea-sized amount between wet palms, and massage the foam into the skin, then wash off with lukewarm water. I don’t know what skin types it would be suitable for, because I personally don’t recommend it for anyone.
Next one up is Secret Key Milk Brightening Toner, which I am actually pretty excited to get, because I read several raving reviews about it on a couple other K-beauty blogs. Considering that it has milk protein extract as the very first ingredient gives me hope that the formula is concentrated and effective.
How to use: Soak a cotton pad in the toner, and use it to gently wipe your skin. Follow up with your usual serum and moisturizer. Suitable for dry, normal, and combination skin.
At first I wasn’t sure what Skin Factory Skin Angel Milky Star Premium White was for, but after doing some research, it turned out to be a wash-off mask that will make your skin look whiter and brighter instantly. It also contains ingredients like Arbutin and Niacin that will brighten the skin over time.
How to use: Massage into clean skin for 1-2 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water. Suitable for all skin types.
Skinfood Coconut Milk Hand Cream is a good example of a heavy wintertime treatment for dry and rough hands. It has a faint coconut scent that lingers on the skin for about 10-15 minutes while the formula absorbs, and I find it quite pleasant. It’s definitely too rich for me to use during the day while the temperatures are in the 80s and 90s, but it makes a great nighttime hand moisturizer.
How to use: Massage a pea-sized amount into hands until absorbed. Suitable for all skin types, especially dry.
Final product in the box actually came outside of the box, because it wouldn’t fit inside the pink packaging! Skinfood Steam Milk Mask Cream looks like a carton of milk, and contains a very generous jar of moisturizer inside. I found it too thick and rich for my combination skin, but I will save it for the colder months to use as a nighttime sleeping pack.
How to use: Gently massage over cleansed and toned skin and pat in for absorbance. Best suited for dry and normal skin.
THE VERDICT: I didn’t buy the original Milk Box back when Memebox USA used to be Memebox Global, but I like what I got in this one. I’m a bit bummed that I can’t use the cleanser, considering it contains a curious ingredient, but everything else seems nice enough. Right now I’m loving the hand cream the most, and I look forward to using the rest during the next few months. At the time of this review the box is still available for sale, you can grab it here.

Who is using these high pH cleansers, and why are they not having problems with it? Bummer, because I would want to see how the donkey milk affected the cleanser. At least this was mostly a good box!
There are way too many harsh cleansers out there, and not just in Korea – most US cleansers I tried were too “basic” as well. I just always think of Korean skin care being ahead of the world, so it surprises me they still didn’t abolish those.
That’s super interesting that they theme the boxes around an ingredient.
Right? They also have botanical ones, themed around various fruits and berries.
