Why yes, it is indeed another Memebox unboxing, this time it’s the latest Luckybox #12! You must think this is all I want to blog about, but I really went overboard in December and now I just want to get these reviews off my chest before 2015 boxes start arriving at my doorstep. I think that the days of low prices, generous coupons, and Memepoints are over, but even at higher base price point, these boxes are still a great deal. Basically, I feel like a sheltered spoiled kid who suddenly got thrown into the real world; it’s time to face reality and adjust accordingly 🙂 Anyhow, for those who don’t know, Luckyboxes are usually made up of popular products from past Memeboxes, and sometimes feature new items as well.
HOW IT WORKS
Memebox Global is not a typical subscription service. They periodically curate boxes filled with assorted beauty products popular among Koreans, and those Limited Edition bundles are sold on first come first serve basis. Prices vary depending on the type of the box. Memebox ships internationally, so make sure to check on their website and see if they ship in your country – chances are they do. All themed boxes tend to sell out fast, so by the time you read this review this particular box might not be available for sale anymore.

Langsre Rose Berry 70 Sleeping Pack – This sleeping pack originally came in a Rose Memebx, which I reviewed here. It was one of my favorite boxes to date, and I am really happy to get another one of these masks. A couple days ago I was skyping with my Sis who is going to come visit me in April, and she really liked the idea of this mask – she loves the scent of roses just as much as I do 🙂 Looks like I have a present for her!
How to use: Apply in the PM as the last step of your skincare routine. Suitable for all skin types.
This mask contains rosewater and aloe vera, and feels like sticky rose-scented gel on the skin. I thought it was pretty average at first, but after using it for a week I changed my mind and decided that it’s actually pretty good. My skin is always so soft when I wake up!
Unni Recipe Vitamin Recharger Essence – The only Unni Recipe product I tried before was the mist that came in Memebox Global #16. The formula was fine, but the packaging didn’t do it justice, because the spray was too thick, so my face felt wet and sticky instead of moisturized and refreshed. Because of that packaging flop, I am now using it as a toner.
How to use: Apply to face after toner application and pat in for full absorbance. Suitable for all skin types.
This serum is from the same line as the spray, it recharges skin with essential vitamins and nutrients so it looks fresh and more awake. It also contains skin whitening ingredients [yep, whitening, not brightening], so if you like your tan you might want to skip this one.
Pureplus + Lip Treatment in Strawberry – This lip treatment looks almost exactly like that one from Pure Smile everyone seems to love. I am personally not a big fan of lip balms and glosses with petroleum jelly base, because I lick my lips all the time and don’t want to risk ingesting too much of it.
How to use: Apply to lips whenever necessary. Suitable for all skin types.
I can think of one instance when I would actually use something like this. Sometimes during Winter my lips become so badly chapped, that a regular lip balm or lip butter would be too painful to apply, and scrubbing them is a bad idea. An overnight “soak” with a petroleum jelly-based lip gloss softens the lips and makes them easy to exfoliate the morning after.
RiRe Pigment in 03 Peach Peach – I am so bad when it comes to loose pigments! I always manage to make a mess, and have a lot of fallout on my cheeks and lids. There were five variations sent out, and I got the peach colored glitter, which would have been my first choice. Yay!
How to use: Apply to eyelids using brush or finger.
The color is beautiful, but it absolutely needs a good primer underneath, because it flakes off like nobody’s business, The finish is visually stunning! Imagine a peach metallic mirror-like shine that reflects even the faintest traces of light. It’s really gorgeous, but I couldn’t pull it off for the daytime so I’ll be incorporating it in my night looks.
Pisteo Bright & Pure C Serum – This crazy expensive ampoule contains one week’s worth of brightening Vitamin C serum, and it’s a repeat from Thanksgiving For Me box. I really like the presentation and the markings on the side of the bottle, so it’s easy to figure out exactly how much product you need for every application.
How to use: Replace the flat cap with the dropper lid and apply a few drops to the skin in the AM after cleansing and toning. Suitable for all skin types.
I expected this serum to be decent, but it blew my expectations out of the park – it was that good. I am really seeing the improvement to my post-acne discolorations, even the ones that have been there for months. Seriously, if you struggle with the same stuff, hit the swap boards or websites and grab a few of these ampoules – they are 100% worth it.
Tonymoly BCDation All Master SPF30 PA++ – This BB cream comes in one very pale color, and by some odd miracle that color is actually my exact skin tone. It provides full coverage and really hides all imperfections and discolorations, but again, this thing only comes in one shade that is very pale, which won’t suit that many people.
How to use: Apply an adequate amount to your skin and blend out using your fingers, foundation brush, or makeup sponge. Suitable for combination and oily skin types.
I adore this formula and sometimes mix it with my moisturizer when I need less coverage and dewy finish. Normally it looks matte once it sets, which can be a problem for anybody with dry skin, so I recommend it only for ladies with oily/combination complexions, like mine.
THE VERDICT
I think Luckyboxes are a fair game, because you’re always gambling that you’ll get something new. I bought this one without expecting much, and received some of my favorite goodies from past boxes – Pisteo, BCDation and Langsre. I hope Memebox continues making these in the future!
