Memebox Global Luckybox #1 Review, Pictures, Unboxing

purchased
Memebox Global, Korean skincare, Asian beauty brands, Best moisturizer, Cheese cream

I’ve been a terrible slacker lately, and completely forgot to review this box, despite receiving it a long time ago. Luckybox #1 was the first one of its kind offered by Memebox, and it was a great option for people who did not purchase their previous boxes. This one contained a mix of products from editions #1 through #6-2; and since I started buying these from 6-2, I was really looking forward to trying everything I might have missed out on.

HOW IT WORKS
Memebox Global is not a typical subscription service. They periodically curate boxes filled with assorted beauty products popular among Koreans, and those Limited Edition bundles are sold on first come first serve basis. Prices vary depending on the type of the box. Memebox ships internationally, so make sure to check on their website and see if they ship in your country – chances are they do. All themed boxes tend to sell out fast, so by the time you read this review this particular box might not be available for sale anymore.

Special offer: Use code SHIP4CHEAP to get free standard shipping. Expires March 31st.

Nuganic Customize Pore Control Essence – This product was originally featured in Memeboxes #5 and #5-2. I’m still not even close to using up the previous bottle that I got in my Memebox #5-2, but I have to tell you that it hasn’t been super effective, or maybe I just don’t understand how it’s supposed to work. I mean, Korean women are all about that glowy dewy youthful look, so they rarely make their face appear totally matte, and I’m guessing that’s why my skin doesn’t look the way I thought it would when using a “pore control” product. I admit that it does make my T-zone feel comfortable and moisturized, so maybe that’s how it is supposed to work. Moisturized =/= oily, after all.

Danahan Bon Yeon Jin Essence – This product was originally featured in Memebox #4. I totally missed out on this sample so I’m happy to finally be able to try it. It has tacky consistency that stretches out like honey, no, seriously, I think one time I managed to make a string out of it that was 3″ long! I may be imagining this, but I tried using this essence for 3 days, and it seriously made my skin glow. I know what you’re thinking, 3 days is not nearly enough, but I’m convinced that it really made a difference. I will be sad when my sample runs out, because the retail tube is sold for almost $70 and it’s unlikely that I will be able to purchase it 🙁

Mamonde First Energy Serum – This is a brand new product, never featured in previous Memeboxes, and I’m happy that I had a chance to try it. The sample box came with two little foil packets with more serum and another one with CC cream. This serum is actually quite unique, I know I say it about like every Korean product, but really, they’re so far ahead of us in terms of skincare innovations! So anyway, this serum is made with natural flower vinegar fermented in a clay pot for 60 days, which helps brighten and moisturize the skin. Don’t worry, it doesn’t smell like vinegar at all 🙂

Sep Face Lifting Mask – This product was originally featured in Memebox #1. This mask is all the rage in Korea right now, and it’s actually laced! It comes in two parts for your eye and jaw area, so you can adjust it on your face more comfortably. It looks very pretty when you wear it too, and I never thought that I’d think that about any of these sheet masks, that all make me look like a zombie.

Too Cool For School Aqua Gel Mist – This mist was originally featured in Memebox #1. It’s really a liquid gel, but it sprays surprisingly well. It feels cool and refreshing on the skin, and layers well with other skincare and makeup.

Tonymoly Delight Tony Tint Red – This product was originally featured in Memebox #3. I’ve heard a lot about Tonymoly, but never had a chance to try them, so it’s fun to finally be able to check out what everyone raves about. This tint is SO pigmented, my arm swatch lasted like two days and no amount of soap and scrubbing could remove it! If you’re looking for a lip product that you want to apply and forget about it for two days, check this one out, it’s a beast! And of course, the packaging is adorable with it’s cute heart-shaped cap.

Dear by Enpani Bounce Cheese Cream – Originally featured in Memebox #3, this is the product everyone has been obsessing over. The name is quite funny for a moisturizer, but it makes sense when you consider that it’s made with whey protein, which is a cheese byproduct, and also because it has a stretchy bouncy texture of string cheese. It feels great on the skin and smells nothing like cheese!

CNP Laboratory Cleansing Perfecta – This sample was originally featured in Memebox #5 and #5-2. I liked this cleanser since the very first day of using it because it actually does a great job at removing makeup. The consistency is slightly tacky and slimy, but for some reason I’m oddly attracted to it, probably because it’s unlike any other cleanser I’ve tried. I made a collage out of my phone pics, so the quality is not the greatest, but you get the idea.

THE VERDICT
I love skincare, you know I do, so of course this is the perfect box for me. I’ve been buying Memeboxes like crazy lately, and only skipped #9. So far the products have been high quality, and the value was amazing, and what more can I ask for? In future boxes I would love to see more sunscreen, BB creams, and maybe a cute blush or setting powder.

So what do you think about Luckybox #1? Is it everything you wanted it to be, or would you have preferred more makeup?

I love products like these! I need to pick this box up because I’ve seen only good review so far!

    • April 1, 2014 / 12:59 pm

The boxes are fantastic value, but the customer service is not that great, and the shipping times can be very slow. Just keep that in mind if you order them! 🙂

Memeboxes are definitely heavy on skincare, but if that’s your thing (it is mine!) then you’re going to live them 🙂

The products in this one looks great. Better than some of the other boxes I’ve seen

    • April 1, 2014 / 1:01 pm

Agreed, the value and the sizes are always very generous; and who wouldn’t appreciate the novelty of these products? Who could resist a string cheese moisturizer and a lace mask!

    • April 1, 2014 / 1:01 pm

Glad you like it! 🙂 This is my new favorite subscription.

I have this one coming my way, along with Luckybox #2 and #3. I am pretty excited to try all these items, the reviews are great. I saw that they have a Hair and Body box out right now too, and I am debating getting that one.

    • April 1, 2014 / 1:43 pm

That hair & body box also comes with $5 store credit; definitely tempting!

Thank you so much for posting this! When I was in Vegas last June I went to the Asiantown area and stumbled into a Korean beauty store. I had no idea about how cool Korean beauty products are back then and I panicked and bought a Shiseido spray on body lotion which totally sucked. They also gave me some foil pack samples of the Danahan Bon Yeon Jin Essence and I really liked it! I didn’t find mine stringy, maybe because I was getting mine out of a foil packet. I want to go back to that store in Vegas so bad with the Korean beauty product knowledge you gave me from reading this blog lol!

    • April 1, 2014 / 1:48 pm

Haha, glad I could help! That Danahan Essence, lace mask and cheese cream are worth checking out for sure 🙂

Great box. I would love to hear about how the mask works for you.

    • April 1, 2014 / 1:55 pm

Honestly, I can’t say it’s drastically different than cheaper sheet masks, but it sure feels nice.

  11. March 27, 2014 / 7:27 pm

Aw, Luckybox#1 is sold out! Bounce cheese cream is such a funny name! lol. I don’t need another box, but I want another box!

    • April 1, 2014 / 1:49 pm

Yeah, these buggers sell out within days, sometimes hours, so it’s pretty much impossible to buy the current one, unless you’re subscribed for email updates.

  12. March 27, 2014 / 7:36 pm

I just ordered Luckybox #2. I blame you! lol

  17. March 28, 2014 / 9:36 pm

These boxes looked awesome!! I just ordered the luckybox 2 and memebox 12! Can’t wait to get them. Thanks for introducing them to me. So what are your favorite subscription boxes?

    • April 1, 2014 / 2:21 pm

Always happy to enable, especially if it’s something as awesome as Memebox 🙂 That’s a hard question about subscription boxes, I think right now my favorite is Memebox, and I also like Le Metier de Beaute (which I will sign up for again in July). I’m also always excited about Popsugar Must Have boxes, but they can be a hit or a miss. I’m also currently receiving Ipsy, Birchbox, Beauty Box 5 and Sample Society, all of which have their own good qualities 🙂
