As soon as the release of MAC Finally Free Lipstick [$17, available here] was announced, I was feeling anxious to see what color it’s going to be. Caitlyn seems to prefer old Hollywood glamour and classic silhouettes in her personal style, so I thought her shade would be some kind of a darker cool-toned red, maybe in line with MAC Diva Antics. But when we got the shade preview, I oohed and aahed about if for an hour, because Finally Free turned out to be a lovely brownish rose, perfect for everyday wear! Just so you know, I would have been totally okay if it was a special occasion-only color, too, because I was going to buy it anyway to support the cause. However, it makes me so much happier knowing that I can wear it every day, and feel good about doing so.
On their website MAC described Finally Free as a mid-tone rosey nude in Cremesheen formula. What makes this lipstick so special is the cause – 100% of the price is donated directly to MAC AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative. That’s right, MAC is not making any money on Finally Free, and instead using the Kardashian clan influence to help support the transgender community. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a company donate the entire value of the product to charity before, so MAC is the first one on my memory. If you know of any other beauty companies that do this, please let me know in the comments – I am always happy to support a selfless business model, if it’s within my spending budget.
Like other cremesheens, MAC Finally Free was a pleasure to use. This particular formula is known for it’s glossy finish on the lips and nourishing buttery feel. That butteriness makes the wear time shorter than matte and semi-matte MAC lipsticks, but it feels so much more comfortable, so you’ll have to figure out if the trade off is worth it for you. I personally like lippies in all kinds of finishes, so I’m okay with 3-4 hours of wear before I need to reapply.
MAC Finally Free Lipstick is an online exclusive Limited Edition release, and you can purchase it at maccosmetics.com.

That is a gorgeous shade!
Indeed, it is!
The shade is gorgeous and it looks perfect on you! I love it, and I’d like to own it but I detested Bruce Jenner and I seem to like her even less now as Caitlyn – has nothing to do with her transgender decision, just can’t stand her. Wish the shade was just a regular MAC shade
Thank you, Allison, and I totally understand! I also find myself not purchasing certain beauty collabs with some popular Youtubers/MUAs because I just can’t stand their personality (or at least the personality they show on their channels).
I just love the cremesheens!! This is such a gorgeous shade!
I agree, it’s so pretty! And cremesheens are my second favorite MAC lippie formula after mattes 🙂
The creamsheen is my favorite MAC formula. Glad this is so wearable!
Love that formula too, it’s my second favorite after mattes 🙂
I like this lipstick on you so much more than I expected to. I love this MAC cause.
I was surprised how wearable it is myself! I fully expected it to be bold and dressy, but it turned out to be a neutral everyday color.
This looks great on you
Thank you, doll!
I knew I was going to buy this, too. I love the color, but find the formula a bit drying on me. I still love it, though. It is so pretty on you!
Oh bummer, who would have thought! On me cremesheens are so hydrating, they are almost slippery.
That’s a beautiful lipstick shade on you – absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you!
