Loving Lately: Skincare & Perfume

Loving Lately: Skincare & Perfume

I was trying to come up with a clever first paragraph as an intro to this post, but honestly, this is just a roundup of things I’m loving this summer, that I wanted to share with you. I personally love roundups, it’s nice to see what other beauty enthusiasts are raving about at the moment, especially if it’s someone with a skin type similar to mine. So, for what it’s worth, my skin is combination/acne-prone/aging and I am also a tretinoin user. Hope that helps!

SKINCARE:

1 // Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser* ($28) – Went through several tubes in the past, stopped for a couple years, and now it’s back in my routine. Korres’ yogurt products always feel so calming, because they’re super gentle and promote healthy skin barrier. They also contain actual probiotics.

2 // I’m from Rice Toner* ($28) – She’s the GOAT, the icon, the cult classic. There’s a reason this bi-phase toner went viral on TikTok, and that’s because it’s not just water, but more like a liquid milky serum. It’s suitable for the 7-skin method, fantastic for barrier repair and has some mild brightening properties from rice water. This is one of my current HG products, and I don’t say it lightly.

3 // goodal Green Tangerine Vita-C Dark Spot Care Serum ($31) – This serum was hyped so much when it first launched, but I don’t think it’s the best brightening product out there. However, I love how moisturizing it feels on the skin and that it has an added benefit of antioxidants that make my sunscreen more effective. Don’t buy this if you need actual brightening.

4 // Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream* ($65) – This was my mom’s favorite, and now that I have a jar of my own, I can see why she loved it so much. Absolutely gorgeous silky texture and the formula is so soothing, moisturizing, hydrating, and calming. Makes my eye area look more awake instantly. It’s on the way of becoming my HG, but not quite there yet because I’d like to use it up first before I make up my mind.

5 // Volition Prismatic Luminizing Shielf SPF 50* ($38) – I loved this sunscreen when it first launched a few years ago, and it got recently reformulated to be even better. The SPF went up from 35 to 50, and the new formula is slightly tinted to offset the pink cast from Zinc oxide. The signature radiant dewy finish is the same as before – it makes the skin look luminous, like it’s glowing from within.

PERFUME:

6 // Jones Road Fragrance Shower* ($42) – Smells exactly how you’d expect fresh laundry to smell like. It’s that powdery, soapy, fresh scent of wet sheets drying in the sun on a windy day. Certainly not for everyone, but I like it a lot, especially if it’s over 90 degrees outside.

7 // Provision Las Flores EDP* ($125) – Las Flores is the perfect spring/summer perfume, and has been among my personal favorites for many years. This is what I imagine happiness smells like, it’s the scent of pure floral dopamine. It’s equal parts intoxicating (orange flowers), fresh (poplar buds), and grounded (elemi, amber), and gives you a whole whirlwind of positive emotions from first spray til drydown.

8 // Ffern Summer 24* ($129) – One of my newest additions, but wow, what a treat she is! Smells like summers in the European countryside: citrus orchards, fennel, hay stacks, wildflowers in the meadows, wild honey, and warm scones with earl grey tea. Yes, all of this and then some, as this is a very complex perfume with lots of notes. Available only to Ffern ledger members, or you could try to hunt it down on second-hand markerplaces like Poshmark and eBay.

9 // INITIO Parfums Privés Narcotic Delight* ($380) – Intoxicating, sexy, seductive, this is a perfume for a true maneater, femme fatale – something I imagine Sharon Stone would wear. I love the balance of boozy cognac-soaked cherries, sweet vanilla, jasmine, tobacco, and peppercorns where all the notes are harmonious and don’t overpower one another. One of the most long-lasting perfumes in my collection, it will really stay on your skin all day.

What beauty products are you loving this summer? Any particular one stands out above the rest?
