Essie Drop The Gown Swatches & Review

Essie Drop The Gown Swatches & Review

I didn’t have a blog post planned for today but still wanted to share a quick tidbit. It’s been a while since I bought new nail polish, but something prompted me to pick up a fresh bottle of red since I was getting bored of the ones I have. I didn’t feel like going to the drugstore in person, with cov!d and everything, so I went straight to Amazon to see what’s available. My eyes were immediately drawn to Essie Drop the Gown, a warm-toned plummy wine red that looks absolutely stunning in the bottle and on the nails! It’s a kind of “old money” shade, very elegant and understated, and makes you feel a million bucks.

Essie Drop The Gown Swatches & Review

Drop The Gown is part of Essie’s Gel Couture collection, a long-lasting semi-gel nail polish formula that sets with a high shine finish and doesn’t require a UV lamp to cure. On my weak, bendy natural nails, this polish can easily last for 7-10 days with minimal wear on the edges. I do a fair amount of housework in addition to cooking from scratch 2-3 times every day, and this can be hard on natural nails. Even so, my Gel Couture polishes are always resilient and stay nice and glossy all week. Honestly, I can’t recommend this collection enough, especially if you are like me and would rather do your nails once a week than once every 3-4 days.

Drop The Gown is not a new release. This shade came out as part of After Party Collection way back in 2016, and has been a hit ever since. I’m not surprised at all, because it’s gorgeous, and I hope Essie contiues making it for years to come so more people get to enjoy it.

Essie Drop The Gown is available on Amazon (where I got it), but you can also find them at mass retailers, like Target, Walmart, Ulta. But even if Drop The Gown isn’t your favorite, I still recommend checking out other colors from Gel Couture lineup – you won’t be disappointed!

Do you have a favorite red nail polish? Do you usually wear single colors or multicolor nail art?
