L’Occitane en Provence Products Review

I got the idea to write this post from one of the beauty websites I frequent. That discussion made me realize that I’ve been loyal to a particular brand for over a decade now! While clearing my beauty cabinet of expired products, I collected all of the L’Occitane goodies I could find and decided to review them.

I first got introduced to L’Occitane when I received their Shea Butter gift set for my birthday, and I’ve been addicted ever since. I really wanted to try every single thing they make and after several years I managed to achieve that. Now I think I know almost too much about them! I could tell you the year a certain limited edition product was released in, I know where they grow the organic ingredients for each of their products and of course I instantly recognize them by smell. And no matter how many other products I sample through various subscription services I keep coming back to my good old L’Occitane that never fails me. Now, check out these goodies I found around the house and let me know if you have ever tried any of them.

Angelica line:  Face Toner and Cleansing Gel
I have combination skin so on most days I don’t need any extra hydration, but once in a blue moon my face would start acting up and get all tight and irritated and I have no idea why. And although I still don’t know the reason, I found a perfect solution! I swap my usual face wash with this cleansing gel and then use the toner from the same line afterwards.

It’s a bit sticky if you use too much of it, but it always calms my skin and leaves it moisturized without me having to use any heavy creams on top of it. So far the only product that even came close to giving me the same effect was Arcona Cranberry Toner sample I got in my Sample Society box.

The cleansing gel will last a long time since it’s pretty concentrated. One full pump will probably last you about 3 uses. I also absolutely love the scent – all products in this line smell like sweet freshly cut grass! Honestly, the scents is one of the main reasons I love L’Occitane so much, I think there is something for everyone.

Verbena line: Protective Body Lotion SPF 15 and Protective Lip Gloss SPF 15
Although this duo is from a limited edition summer collection I actually bought it to use in the fall/winter. I normally use SPF 50 during the summer months and SPF 15 to 25 during the colder season because I feel that my skin still could use the protection even if the sun is not as intense anymore.

I normally love the Verbena line and used a lot of their products before but Sun Verbena seems to have a slightly overpowering fragrance, which is probably the only reason why I haven’t used up that bottle yet.

If you can get past the aftertaste the lip gloss actually works really well. It provides instant relief to dry and cracked lips and smells really nice. This ended up being my least favorite product I have ever purchased from L’Occitane.

Immortelle line: Very Precious Regenerating Concentrate, Brightening Cleansing Foam and Essential Water
I love the Immortelle line, in addition to the heavenly scent this trio helps me fight blemishes, fine lines and discoloration all at the same time. The Precious Concentrate is by far my favorite product, it’s basically my holy grail item now. And since you only need a few drops to cover your entire face and neck area it is still only half-empty and I’ve been using it almost every day for over a year now.

I heard they changed the formula though and not a lot of people are happy about that. I haven’t tried the new version yet, but apparently it now smells differently. Either way, after using this serum for several years my skin is silky smooth and I don’t have any lines – I give it all the credit for that.

Now, the Cleansing Foam is not really that special but I just love how it feels on the skin. L’Occitane has much better cleansers but I keep coming back to this one from time to time just because it really feels nice while you wash your face. I sometimes use it if I have painful breakouts to minimize the skin rubbing and it’s pretty effective.

And last but not the least, Essential Water is just a decent toner which can also be used as a refreshing face spray mist. It smells really nice just like the rest of the Immortelle line but then again from the skincare standpoint it’s nothing special.

Cade line: Shower Gel for Body and Hair
My husband loves this shower gel, it smells very nice and fresh and it’s a quite upgrade from his dollar store Dial. I would sit there and smell his hair all day, it really leaves that nice lingering piney fragrance that is very masculine and alluring. I wish they made a cologne that smells like that, I think it would sell well because this line has so many devoted fans and their happy wives/girlfriends 🙂

Aromachologie line: Repairing Shampoo
This is quite possibly the best shampoo I found that works well for my fine hair without weighing it down. It’s one of L’Occitane’s bestsellers and rightfully so. I love the woody scent and the way it makes my hair appear thicker and less frizzy after just one use.

Shea Butter line: Extra Gentle Milk Soap
Can a soap bar be a holy grail item? Sure it can! This soap is so gentle it would be perfect for any skin type from dry to oily. It does a perfect job cleansing my face and body of dead skin and impurities without leaving it tight and dry. I honestly think I could even wash my hair with it if I ran out of shampoo.

Fleur Cherie line: Lipstick in Rose Sequins and Radiance Face Powder Pearls
I think this line is not sold in the US, so I bought these products on my trip to Europe. They are both infused with orange blossom extract so they partially act like skincare, and also smell very nice 🙂 I accidentally left my lipstick outside on a rainy day which ruined the packaging a bit but luckily the product was intact. I love the neutral dark pink color, I think it would look great with any complexion. It’s matte on the lips and feels like a lip balm.

The bronzing pearls also smell like orange blossom, they illuminate the face and give it a subtle healthy tan glow. I’m normally very pale and normally don’t wear bronzers, but this one blends well with just about any skin tone. My sister is an avid tanning bed lover and it looked great on her too.

Peony line: Incredible Lip Shine, Duo Eyeshadow in Envolee Lilas and Pivoine Flora Eau de Parfum
The eye shadow duo and the lip gloss are both enriched with the peony extract to pamper the skin. The shadows are not very pigmented and have a nice satiny finish.

They come in L’Occitane’s signature cardboard packaging and have a cute little brush with natural bristles and a mirror inside.

The lip gloss is actually a lip stain, it appears clear in the tube but when you put it on your lips it gives them a unique color. I’m not sure how that works but I thought it was pretty cool 🙂

Pivoine Flora is one of my favorite fragrances of all times, it has a very strong floral scent and has very good staying power. I only have one little sample left but I only have to use a couple drops on my wrists, and the size is very purse-friendly.

  • Top Note: a burst of bergamot blended with grapefruit
  • Middle Note: an intense scent of peony, magnolia and violet petals
  • Base Note: a lingering silky richness enveloped in vanilla, cedar and musk.
Accessories line: Peony Cosmetic Bag, Blush Brush and Eyeliner Brush

These brushes are very soft and durable and I use them both on a daily basis. They are very high quality and have perfect shape and size and I’m always very satisfied with the results.

The cosmetic bag I received as a gift with purchase and it’s very high quality as well. It’s sturdy and waterproof, I always put my shower samples there when travelling.

Well, that’s it! Those are just the goodies I could find right away, I may have many more stashed away in some boxes 🙂 Are you loyal to any brands? If so, what are they and why?

Disclaimer: I purchased this.
