Let’s talk lip care, guys. Raise your hand if you suffer from chronically chapped lips! Wow, that’s a lot of hands. Like you, I also have super thin skin on my lips, which makes it prone to chronic dryness and results in cracks and pieces of dead skin that kind of hang there, ruining the look of my lipsticks. Taking care of that sensitive area all the time is honestly a pain in the neck, so today I wanted to share a roundup of products that have worked for me so far. In fact, I’ve been using them for some time now just to make sure they are worthy of being recommended, so after months of trial I feel comfortable enough to say these three are all winners.
I raved about PIXI Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish [$12, available here] in this blog post, and it’s still my favorite lip exfoliant. I found it extremely gentle, and instead of scrubbing away the dead skin, the applicator kind of “massages” those flakes so they dissolve and roll off, if that makes sense. Oil-infused formula instantly nourishes and moisturizes the lips making them look a million times better, give or take 😉
By Terry Baume de Rose [$60, available here] is expensive, but darn it’s good! Aside from that sky high price tag the only con is that dreaded jar packaging, but I apply it with a retractable lip brush so it’s really not an issue for me personally. Seriously, I was not a believer until I tried a little sample that came in a beauty box a couple years back. It’s one of those products that you assume is all hype, but it turns out to be totally amazing. So there, one more luxury product to add to you “to try some day” wishlist, because in my humble opinion it’s just amazingly effective, stays on the lips longer than any other lip balm, and the formula is super thick so it lasts forever.
And finally, ILIA Lip Gloss [$24, available here]. You might think all lip glosses are the same, but that’s not true at all. Some glosses are loaded with irritating chemicals and provide only temporary relief, while making the skin on your lips even drier in the long run. ILIA lip products, and their lip gloss in particular actually care for your lips like lip balm, and they look totally fabulous, too. Loaded with coconut oil, shea butter, and Vitamin E, these pigmented non-sticky glosses take care of your lips even when you aren’t wearing them.
Now it’s your turn to share! Let me know if you tried any of these products, and I would love to hear about lip treatments that worked for you. I’m still looking for more budget-friendly options just so I don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to restock these three. Okay, PIXI is not exactly expensive, but the other two are. Anyhow, feel free to comment below and list your top products that work well for chapped lips, I will definitely look into them when I have a chance!
Have you tried any of the products above? What is your favorite lip treatment? Let me know in the comments below!

My favorite for my desert-dry lips is Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm. It’s really the only thing that works for me. That said, I just got a deluxe sample of By Terry Balm de Rose. I was saving it for winter to use on my face, but I like your idea of trying it on my lips. The Ilia gloss looks nice. I just got 3 of their lipsticks to try out.
I’m a fan of the Bite Beauty Agave mask. That’s my go to.
These are 3 items that I’ve had on my list to try. I have constant dry lips too. I like the Bite Mask and the Farmacy lip balms.
I have to use a lip scrub.
I use the Pixi one all the time and I’d love to try the one from Ilia. I don’t do well with byTerry because of the fragrance.
I have the Pixi one and use it all the time.
I’ve never used any of these. My lips are pretty hydrated. My carmex works just fine.
When I use a matte lipstick, my lips need serious moisture. I have grown fond of the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask, Dr. Jart Ceramide lip balm, and on the cheaper side, Kiko’s tinted lip balm. That stuff is slick! Love how it feels on my lips. I need to get a sample of the Baume de Rose…
