Today I’m really feeling the plummy fuchsia nail polish that I got in my June Sample Society box, and thought I’d share a quick NOTD with you. This is two coats of lauren b. Polo Lounge Punch [which by the way looks cooler than the picture, my camera refused to pick up the blue undertones], topped with my fave Seche Vite top coat. I swear, there really aren’t that many top coats that I like, but I just can’t live without this one. I think Zoya’s Armor, Julep’s Freedom Polymer, and Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri are all great, but they will always be my second choices.
Anyhow, this was my first time trying lauren b. nail polish, and I must say, it impressed me. The brush is long and skinny, which really helps get that precise application without pooling at the cuticles. Sometimes when the wands are wide and flat I get that weird squared bottom, even though they’re great for a one-stroke full nail coverage. With a thin brush, I can make them look nice and round without having to tailor the shape using a cleanup brush.
The formula was highly pigmented, and provided perfect opacity with two thin coats. At $18 a pop, I expected it to be great, and it was, because sometimes expensive nail polishes can be utter crap. I personally think $18 for a bottle of polish is a bit excessive, but at least with this one you can be sure you’re getting a good quality formula, so it’s not a waste of money [I won’t name names, but I’ve been disappointed with another fancy polish very recently].
WHERE TO BUY: $18 USD for 0.5 fl. oz. Available at lauren b., Dermstore.
