Juniper Box Unboxing and Review: August 2013

As many of you already know, Juniper is my favorite time-of-the-month subscription. I subscribe to many monthly services: some for their value, some for practical reasons, and some for convenience and great customer service. Juniper fits best in the last category, because fairly often the value of the box is about equal to what you paid for it, but it definitely saves me time and hassle of getting feminine products and treats for myself without the fear of having to do it last minute because, I’m human and happen to forget things. The August bag was great as always, and came with some of my all-time favorite things. Read on to find out what they are!

About Juniper:
Juniper is a tampons and treats subscription aimed at redefining the monthly period experience for women. Juniper wants to turn a woman’s period each month from a cause of stress into an occasion for pampering. Every cycle, a Juniper package is delivered to the subscriber before her period begins. For $28/month subscribers are sent a personalized selection of tampons and other backup protection products, as well as hand-picked gourmet treats like artisan chocolates and herbal teas. If you mention Glamorable when you sign up, you will receive a 50% discount on your first box.

Numi Tea and Nature’s Kick Honey Sticks
I actually buy Numi teas regularly, especially the Mint one, because it helps me relax at the end of the day, so I really appreciate getting a few more spare bags in my Juniper box. And, of course, the honey always accompanies each tea cup I drink, I always use it instead of normal sweeteners like sugar or splenda. Important thing to note if you plan on using honey as a hot drink sweetener is to not mix it with boiling water, because that destroys all of the good ingredients. Wait for your drink to cool down first to a comfortable drinking temperature and stir in the desired amount right before you start sipping. Mmmm, yum!

479 Sea Salt Caramel Popcorn
I’ve been trying to eat healthier lately (ok, maybe except for a certain week every month), so I like that this popcorn has only 100 calories per pouch. It definitely doesn’t taste like a diet product, and packs a serious punch of sweetness to satisfy my sweet tooth cravings. These pouches are perfect to carry around in your purse for unexpected midday munchies! 479 Degrees is one of my favorite brands of pre-packaged popcorn and caramel is one of my favorite popcorn varieties, so we have a double winner over here.

Nunes Farms Roasted Salted Pistachios
Nuts provide us with healthy fats, which is why I like most of them. These saltes pistachios were just “okay”, not bad and not amazing, but they served their purpose when I was craving something salty. Some of the shells were hard to take off so I ended up wasting a few nuts, but overall they were evenly salted and easy to eat.

Donsuemor Chocolate Madeleines
The creators of my favorite vanilla madeleines are now also creators of my favorite chocolate madeleines. These indulgent little treats were perfectly moist and chocolatey without being overpowerinly sweet. I will be ordering more 🙂

Golden Earth Aromatherapy Neroli Body Wash
Honestly, I haven’t actually tried this body wash yet because it went straight to my ziploc baggie with travel essentials. Judging from the description on the website it seems like this is a high quality product made with pure organic ingredients and essential oils to gently cleanse the skin without stripping off the moisture.

Girly Goodies
The pouch contains secondary protection (pads) and Midol packs, and the golden box has the tampons. If you remember my July review, there was a little mixup with my feminine products, but this time Lynn personally triple-checked to make sure I got the correct ones this time. Don’t you just love the personal touch?

The verdict: The only reason I remembered about my period is because I received my Juniper box shipping email. I’m so glad I no longer have to remember to order monthly products, or deciding which types of chocolate to buy at the store, Juniper now does it all for me. I just love the convenience of this service, and the personal approach. For any busy woman paying a little extra just so you can have less things to worry about every month is totally worth it, IMO.

Do you subscribe to Juniper? What did you think of this month’s box?

I LITERALLY drooled at the goodies. And they covered all the bases….sweet, crunchy, salty and chocolatey.
