Juniper Box Unboxing and Review: November 2013

On the day my Juniper box arrived I was suffering from a major migraine, but thanks to these treats I was able to get through the day. I didn’t eat everything at once, since I have to save at least something for another pick-me-up next week, but a nice cup of fragrant tea with a chocolate piggy was very uplifting.

HOW IT WORKS
Juniper is a premium tampons and treats delivery service aimed at redefining the monthly period experience for women. Juniper wants to turn a woman’s period each month from a cause of stress into an occasion for pampering. For $28/cycle subscribers are sent a personalized selection of tampons and other backup protection products, as well as hand-picked gourmet treats, like artisan chocolates and herbal teas.

Chocolove Toffee & Almonds Milk Chocolate Bar – I have an unnatural obsession with all things almond, yet I was somehow able to resist munching down this bar as soon as I opened the box. These bars are made of premium Belgian chocolate, buttery sweet toffee and dry-roasted almonds.

Hagensborg Truffle Pigs – These truffle pigs are among my favorite treats, and it’s one of those rare cases when I think I equally love both varieties [I’m normally a dark chocolate lover]. The chocolate is very fine and smooth, and you can tell right away that it’s a high quality treat.

Clarine’s Florentines – A Florentine is a delicate European cookie; it’s typically made with nuts, dried fruit and caramel, with one side coated in chocolate. Carine’s Florentine was pretty close to the original cookies I tried in Italy, but I thought that the almonds were just a tad bit over-roasted.

McSteven’s Spiced Apple Cider – These actually look like they would make a cute hostess gift, a little something extra to give your parents, grandparents or in-laws when you go over for Christmas. The packaging is very bright and festive, and the flavor is perfect for the holidays.

Numi Tea and Nature’s Kick Honey Sticks – I keep saying this in every Juniper review, but tea and honey are my period staples, because nothing soothes me more than a soft blanket with a fragrant cup of my favorite drink. So far I tried the raspberry kind, and it was really good, it actually tasted like real raspberry and not like an over-saturated artificial flavor.

Girly Goodies – Juniper changed the packaging of girly goodies, and now everything comes together in one big box, and I think I like it more this way.

THE VERDICT
November box contained many indulgent treats, and best of all it came at the right time when I was feeling miserable due to a nasty migraine. All of this month’s sweet offerings are high quality products, and I’m always discovering at least one new brand that I want to buy more from.

Ah, I’m looving this box! Can’t wait for mine to arrive this month.. my timing is all crazy so I won’t get it until like the 3rd week of Nov, but I’m already craving those chocolate goodies, apple cider and teas!

The owner Lynn is a total sweetheart! 🙂 I can’t recommend this subscription enough, even though it might not look like the best value out there.

Can’t find Chocolove candy bars for $1.36 anywhere near here. The cheapest price is $2.50. But what a weird box: tampons and food 😉

They are $1.36 when you buy a box of 12 directly from their site, and believe it or not I’m seriously considering doing that haha 🙂

This was one of my fave Juniper boxes yet!!! That toffee chocolate bar was so freaking yummy. I agree Anastasia – may not be the best “value” but the pampering and service is more than worth the price. Lynn rocks!

Totally agree, it’s one of the best boxes yet 🙂 Lynn is amazing for finding all of these delicious treats for us.
