Jones Road The Best Eyeshadow Singles are Underrated
I said what I said! Jones Road made a name for themselves in the makeup community by heavily promoting their cream products – foundation, blushes, multibalms, etc… But, as you might have guessed, those cream formulas don’t work for everyone, and some skin types can’t use them at all. Don’t worry, girlies, Bobbi didn’t forget about us! After browsing the brand’s website earlier this spring, I spotted several products that looked promising. For instance, most cream products now have solid counterparts. Not a fan of the cream foundation? Try The Face Pencil. Miracle Balm breaks you out? Try The Best Blush. Cream eyeshadow dosn’t last on oily lids? Try The Best Eyeshadow.
The latter is actually the product I want to introduce to you today, because – spoiler alert – I’m thoroughly impressed and dying to share the details.
The Best Eyeshadow ($25) are your classic bread-and-butter singles so you can buy only the colors you’ll actually wear. At the time of this post, there are 15 shades available, and I chose four to add to my makeup collection. The idea was to imagine what my perfect palette would be like, so I went for the cool-toned and neutral color story that complements my fair olive complexion:
- Ash – matte medium gray taupe
- Smokey Grey – neutral deep gray
- Dark Brown – deep chocolate brown
- So Pretty – taupe base with pewter shimmer
The formula is an absolute dream to work with: long-lasting, finely milled, and richly pigmented, and you can see from the swatches how beautiful they look on the skin! Better use a primer if you have oily lids, to ensure they won’t settle in the folds.
L to R: Jones Road The Best Eyeshadow Ash, Smokey Grey, Dark Brown, So Pretty, applied to clean skin with Eye Fluffy Brush.
I was also gifted two eyeshadow brushes, and they are exactly what my collection has been missing. Eye Fluffy Brush ($25) is perfect to deposit a wash of color all over the lid, while The Eyeliner Brush ($22) creates the softest eyeliner effect. Both brushes feature densely packed vegan bristles that pick up a lot of pigment at once, which helps minimize the back-and-forth blending motion that can feel harsh on the sensitive skin around the eyes. I noticed that I need fewer strokes to blend out my eyeliner and eyeshadow, and I get less redness in the corners of my eyes. I never considered before that my choice of makeup brushes can contribute to skin sensitivities, but I guess it makes sense?
