Did you hear that Skin is IN? That’s right, even though your Instagram feed might be filled with perfectly contoured faces, dramatic cut creases, and eyebrows on fleek, natural-looking skin is still trendy as ever. After all, even though a lot of us here appreciate the artistry that goes into creating glamorous makeup looks, for the everyday most of us still go with something minimal. New Jane Iredale Skin is IN Collection elevates the no makeup look to new heights with formulas that are good for the skin and products to enhance your favorite facial features in a snap.
The collection includes four products:
Naturally Matte Eye Shadow Kit
GreatShape Eyebrow Kit
White Tea PureGloss Lip Gloss
Flawless PurePressed Blush
Jane Iredale Naturally Matte Eye Shadow Kit [$58, available here] contains five matte shades in neutral earthy tones that will look flattering on all complexions. The colors complement each other perfectly and can be worn alone or blended together to create a multitude of neutral looks. I don’t know if that was the case, but I think these shades were selected to mimic the naturally occurring hues of human skin, which makes them look more organic. While it seems weird to think about using such colors as fading bruise muddy gray, sun spot brown, or nail plate pink, it actually makes perfect sense why they end up looking so good on the skin.
I wore these without primer on a humid day, and they stayed crease-free on my oily lids, which is a huge achievement. I didn’t intend to skip the primer, I was just in a rush that day and only realized I hadn’t put it on when I was already in the car. In the end it all worked out just fine and earned Jane Iredale Naturally Matte Eye Shadow Kit an A+ score in my book!
Jane Iredale GreatShape Eyebrow Kit [$35, available here] is the perfect product to add to this collection. Natural eyebrows are having a moment and I even have another brow-centric blog post planned for you. This kit conveniently comes with a brow powder and a brow wax, separated by a dual-ended brush. One end of the brush features a spoolie and another end is slanted to ensure the most natural pigment application. The brush is small, but not as tiny as those impractical miniature ones from new L’Oreal duos.
Available in Blonde and Brunette shades, the powder features a unique water-resistant formula pigmented enough to cover gray hairs, making the brows look naturally fuller. The wax is made with botanical extracts that nourish and condition the brows, all without making them look sticky or heavy.
P.S.: I know my brows are in need of some serious maintenance so after taking photos for this review I went and got them waxed 🙂 More on that at a later date!
Jane Iredale PureGloss Lip Gloss [$24, available here] in White Tea is a new shimmery caramel shade released as part of Skin is IN! Collection. These best-selling lip glosses are enriched with moringa butter and avocado oil to nourish and protect the lips from dehydration while providing a beautiful wash of sheer color. To make the experience even more pleasant the formula is flavored with blackberry and pomegranate extracts.
What I didn’t care for is the brush. In theory this hourglass shape would grab the perfect amount of product and distribute it evenly on the surface of the lips, hugging every crease and corner. In reality I found it too stiff and awkward to maneuver, or maybe that’s just me. I think I still prefer the classic doe foot applicator, or at least a flexible paddle.
Jane Iredale PurePressed Blush [$30, available here] in Flawless is a new addition to the brand’s blush lineup. This lovely pinkish brown shade wouldn’t be my first choice, but as it turns out it’s exactly the type of color my collection has been missing. This beautiful color looks so natural and flattering that it’s now my go-to blush for everyday makeup.
MY THOUGHTS:
If you didn’t catch the accolades above, I will repeat that Jane Iredale Skin Is In Collection is absolutely superb! From the classy rose gold packaging to the formula, every product feels luxurious and “special”. This is the kind of makeup I want to use over and over, and my mom is already a fan after I got her hooked on LipDrink years ago. To sum it up, I thought the powder products are the best of the bunch: pigmented, buttery smooth, blendable, and long-lasting. The lip gloss was a little sticky, which is necessary for making it long-wearing. The only thing I didn’t like was the applicator, but that’s probably because I’m just not used to that shape.
You can purchase all of the products from Skin is IN! Collection at Jane Iredale and authorized retailers.

What a soft and pretty collection! I love the lip shade!
Yes! Soft is the perfect way to describe it. It’s supposed to look like you’re wearing no makeup 🙂

I agree, they deserve more recognition.
That shadow palette is exactly my favorite type of shades.
Mine, too! I love anything and everything neutral.

This packaging is everything! I love it and I must have it!
Right? that packaging is everything 🙂
I’ve only tried Jane Iredale lipsticks and love them. Those eyeshadows look great!
Those lipsticks were great! I remember getting them in various subscription boxes.
These colors look great on you. What jumped out at me is that super neutral brow with the wax. I need to try it!
Thank you! And yes, the brow color looks very natural – exactly the type of color I like my brows to be.
I’ve been intrigued by this brand for a while. I think I need to get some of those shadows, if they wear that well on oily lids in humidity!
Yes, they do! The quality and wear time is comparable with my favorites from Viseart.
