Ipsy is pretty good at following their monthly themes, and in June theme is “Swim Into Beauty”. The cosmetic bag itself is made with what I believe is neoprene, a synthetic material used for making diving drysuits. I love that, I think that was a smart and super creative idea, so A+ to whoever came up with that! Also, I’m totally spoiling this review for you, but I loved my samples this month; in fact, this might be my favorite Ipsy bag this year so far. Read on to find out what made me a happy camper….
HOW IT WORKS: Each month subscribers will receive a new Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products customized according to your beauty profile. Members can watch videos and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using, all for only $10/month. If you would like to use my referral link click here to join Ipsy. Thank you!
I’ll list samples in the same order as I tried them, and the first one on my list is LAVANILA LABORATORIES The Healthy Body Butter in Pure Vanilla. This brand is mostly famous for their aluminum-free deodorants, which I like by the way, but I’ve been curious to try their other products, like fragrances and skin care. This lotion smelled exactly like the deodorant – slightly soapy, with hints of bitter vanilla. It wasn’t buttery or smooth, and felt very similar to another natural lotion in my stash from DermOrganic. Since this 100% natural formula doesn’t contain silicones and mineral oil, it takes a little bit of extra rubbing time to spread, but once absorbed, it made my skin delightfully scented, soft, and moisturized without the stickiness.
Very few beauty junkies haven’t tried the cult classic Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Foundation Primer yet. Its murky silicone formula helps create a smooth canvas and blur out small skin imperfections, which in turn makes the foundation apply better and more evenly. I particularly like it for masking enlarged pores on my nose, cheeks, and chin, and it does a splendid job at that. I’m sure there’s a statistic somewhere on how many of these primers are sold in the world every minute – this stuff is crazy popular, and rightfully so.
IT Cosmetics took beauty community by the storm with their absolutely gorgeous concealer a few years ago, so I’ll always be excited to try any of their products. They totally didn’t skimp on packaging for a travel-sized sample of Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil – it came in a weighty frame, that looks high quality, and even the outer box looked like something straight off the retail shelf. At first I was a bit confused by the color, after all, light gray doesn’t seem like it would match me well, but the brand promised that the shade has some color-transforming properties that adjust to the wearer. Talk about high tech in beauty! Well, I gave it a try, and it turned out okay – I got very natural-looking brows, slightly darker than my hair color. There’s also a spoolie at the end of the pencil that you can use to brush in the color and make it more natural. Anyhow, it was a nice product to try, but I think I’ll stick with my current brow mascara for now.
I’ve been loving the revamped store brand nail polish line, and have quite a few bottles of Sephora Formula X already in my stash, but Power Source wasn’t one of them. What a fun summer coral, and it perfectly fits the theme of the box! And the mini-bottle is just totes adorbs 🙂
And finally, a completely new brand to me – tre’StiQue Mini Shadow Crayon. The packaging reminds me of those new Marc Jacobs pencils, except this one is made with black plastic rather than with silvery finish. There were four shades sent out, and I received Marimoto Pink Pearl [again, perfect shade name for a “swim”-themed box], which Ipsy described as a pinky-nude with subtle pearl finish, but to me it looked more sandy. It’s a beautiful shade that is universally flattering, it has just the right amount of shimmer and I can use it all over my lid, or as a highlighter in the inner corners of my eyes. The pencil is very compact, and doesn’t take much space in the cosmetic bag.
THE VERDICT: I think this month my Ipsy bag was absolutely outstanding! So many great brands, and fun products, I seriously have nothing to complain about [and I’m a big time complainer]. I wish all of my Ipsy bags were as good as the one I got this month, in terms of the overall quality and variety.

Anastasia, I like to be surprised and I haven’t gotten mine yet so I’ll come back and comment after I get it!
Gotcha! I look forward to seeing what you get 🙂
I should be getting mine real soon! I looked at my glam room already…..but I forgot what I’m getting, haha. I know the primer was in mine. I’m not a hige fan of Smashbox primers. 🙁 I was hoping for the Melted!!
I was hoping for the Melted, too, but I’m okay with the primer, too. My skin is an oil slick in the Summer, so I need all the help I can get 🙂
First yours is way cooler than mine, I debate every month on whether or not to cancel mine hehe. I always get stuff that I say I don’t want plus that smashbox primer (any of their primers) break me out like a mug hehe. I wanted the melted lip gloss that I got in my email every single time they advertised 🙂
Girl, trust me, this is probably the best one I got all year, so it’s not like they perfectly match me to ideal products every month either [I kinda wish they did]. I was hoping for the lippie too, but these primers seem to get along well with my skin, so I’m okay with them.
I wish I had gotten the Too Faced Melted Lipstick in mine. I got the eyeshadow crayon and primer like you!
I was hoping for the Melted, too, but I’m okay with the primer. What did you think of the crayon? I’m getting the Nudestix vibe from them, since all of their products seem like miltu-purpose pencils.
IPSY did a great job with the bag this month. So many fun products to try.
They did well selecting products for my bag, indeed, but I saw some pretty sad looking bags, too, unfortunately 🙁
Looks like a great bag! I like the looks of the eye crayon.
That cute little pencil looks adorable, doesn’t it? The cap is so clever, I like how it’s shaped like an actual crayon 🙂
I would have loved this bag because of the LaVanila and It Cosmetics 🙂
Right? Those samples are top notch, I wish Ipsy was this good all the time, but who am I kidding, next month I’m probably going to get same old no-name stuff 🙂
Wow this month is spot on. I would have loved the brow power and lavanilla products!!
They’re both wonderful! 🙂 Ipsy outdid themselves this month.
I’d have been happy with this box. All the items seem very usable.
Indeed they are! Sometimes I get a product and just don’t know what to do with it because it’s just a bad match, but not this time.
I think that this is one of the best bags they’ve put out. The Smashbox alone is worth the price.
Definitely one of the best in Ipsy history, and the best one I’ve gotten personally.
I would have loved this bag. Yep. Ipsy is totally trolling me. lol (Because it’s all about me…)
Haha, of course, girl! I swear, when I unsubscribe, all those beauty boxes release the most amazing months they’e ever had. Yep.
Ipsy seems to be getting better! I love that Smashbox primer, it is good for summer.
Glad to hear that! My skin is a total oil slick during the Summer, and I often use all sorts of primers because of that.
shadow crayon looks interesting, i’m not familiar w/ the brand ‘tho
Me neither, but I think they’re riding the Nudestix wave.
definitely an awesome bag this month! Love that polish!
It’s a beautiful color, and the formula seems nice, too. I’m wearing it on my nails today, and no chips after 3 days 🙂
Such a good bag!
It was pretty outstanding! It’s definitely the best one I’ve gotten all year.
I got a great bag too, but I would have loved to try that polish. I didn’t get the brow pencil but then I don’t know if it would have worked with my red hair/brows.
I’m still on the fence about the brow pencil. It’s supposed to fit all brow colors and skin tones, but I just like my usual Memebox brow mascara better.
So many great products 😀
Agreed! Ipsy nailed it this month!
My bag was totally different though I did get the Smashbox. It’s so interesting to me to see the variations.
I like seeing the variations, too. I think I would have preferred the Melted lippie, but my bg already looks pretty amazing, so I can’t complain.
WOW girl… you got a great bag. I love that Lavanilla – such a great bag and the bag itself is nice and chic.
I love that lotion, it feels so good on the skin!
ohhh I didn’t get the IT. I loveeee their brow products!
Good to know! I’m still undecided about this brow pencil, but I think it’s pretty good. I wish the color was a better match 🙂
WOW you got some items I’d love!
Some coveted goodies in there, indeed 🙂 I think this was probably the best bag variation this month.
Wow I love the box you got! I’m still waiting on mine!
I hope you get something good, too!
I got every single thing the same as you, ahha. I’m so excited to try these new products!
Haha, yay, go us! This bag is amazing 🙂
New to your blog, it’s lovely! My Ipsy bag wasn’t the greatest this month, I’ve definitely been happier with it, but I still love the surprise and fiddling around with the products.
Welcome to the madness, Chelsea! 🙂 The surprise factor is why I still stay subscribed, because I’ve definitely been disappointed a lot in the past. This was definitely the best Ipsy bag I got all year, I wish all of them were that good.
This was a good bag, I haven’t tried the formula X polishes yet.
One of the best bags I’ve seen for sure, and even the cosmetic pouch itself looks well-made.
