In the month of November Ipsy surprised everyone with a glitter theme. I’m sure not everyone was happy about that choice, so this bad was either a hit or a miss. Did I like it? Well, let’s just say that my opinion changed after I actually tried everything.
HOW IT WORKS

TEMPTU S/B Highlighter – At first glance I was super bored with this sample, it looked like just another highlighter. I figured I’d give it a try anyway, and surprisingly, it was quite a bit different from anything else I own. This highlighter gives my skin a glow from within without all the glitter and shimmer. It doesn’t look like makeup at all. I imagine a lot of people who like sporting a natural look will fall in love with this one.
Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Base – Everyone who got this base received Submissive shade, which is sort of a darker bronzey taupe with gold shimmers. Even though I don’t like Be A Bombshell products in general I loved this color when I first saw it in the jar. Unfortunately, it didn’t work as a base or as an all-over eye shadow, because the formula creases within an hour or two. Sad as it may sound, that’s still a better track record than Le Metier de Beaute Cream Shadows, that got discontinued weeks after they were released.
Elizabeth Mott you’re so FINE Eyeliner – Elizabeth Mott is another brand I just don’t care for, because none of their products worked for me. From the positives, I really liked the packaging design and the color of this liner – it’s pitch black, not like dark-gray-pretending-to-be-black, and silver glitters look great when they catch the light. From the negatives I’d like to point out bad staying power – it’ll either flake off if you have dry or normal lids, or melt off if yours are oily; it only worked well with a primer underneath, but that’s what primers are for. I’m really quite surprised to see so many positive reviews, because there are better drugstore options at half the cost.
J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint – These lip color potions look very similar to OCC Lip Tars, and Ipsy subscribers who got to sample one received either Mad Splatter or Red Potion shade. I got the latter, which can be described as a deep burgundy red. It looks very dark in the tube, but shows up a lot lighter on the lips. I personally didn’t care for the formula, it was much runnier than OCC and didn’t have nearly the same staying power.
Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray – This is the only product where I got exactly what I expected – decent quality hairspray with good hold. Although personally I would rather use non-aerosol hairsprays, sometimes it can be hard to find a good one for a decent price, so I’m forced to use my samples while waiting for a deal.
THE VERDICT
Out of five products this month, I loved two, hated two, and one was just meh. When I first held the bag in my hands it looked nice and full, but after trying everything and eliminating things I won’t use again, I was left with a tiny sample of highlighter and a can of hairspray. Suddenly, the bag’s not so full anymore. Final verdict: dud!
