Buckle up, ladies, we’re about to go to an adventure: Destination – Beauty! This month Ipsy has a super catchy theme, and a great selection of new samples to try. March 2014 Glam Bags contained only four products, but in this case it was quality over quantity, which I am perfectly fine with.

HOW IT WORKS

Each month subscribers will receive a new Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products customized according to your beauty profile. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using, all for only $10 a month.

Ipsy GlamBag March 2014 – contents

Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer

Chella Indigo Blue Eyeliner – felt tip

Chella Indigo Blue Eyeliner

NYX Love in Rio Eye Shadow Palette in “Bikini Bottom”

bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in “Get Ready”

Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer – sample vs full size

bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready – The shade is just gorgeous, and it’s actually quite a bit pinker than pictures on bareMinerals’ own website. These lipsticks are among the brand’s best-selling products, however I’m probably not going to purchase any other colors, because this formula didn’t last very long on my lips, compared to my usual lippies.

NYX Love in Rio Eye Shadow Palette in Bikini Bottom – A few months back I sampled this palette in different colors via Beauty Box 5. This time I was actually hoping to get some fun colorful new shades to play with, however, I got a neutral one. The colors include silvery pink, bronze and deep bronze shades, which is a pretty nice set and it would look especially gorgeous on tanned skin. I have very similar colors from other brands in my collection, so I will be passing it on to a family member.

Chella Indigo Blue Eyeliner – The packaging of this eyeliner visually reminds me of Eyeko 🙂 Chella says that this formula is water-resistant, smudge proof, quick drying and lasts all day, but from personal experience it was not water-resistant at all, and also it felt surprisingly dry for a liquid eyeliner. I wanted to like it, but unfortunately, the formula left a lot to be desired, and the shade didn’t flatter my complexion or eye color.

Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer – Actually, I already own a full-sized bottle of this primer, but I don’t cover my entire face with it. On those days when I need to add some glow to my skin I mix a few drops with my foundation, and gives me that lit from within look. Also, sometimes I would use it as a soft highlighter. [P.S.: I bet you’re sick with me babbling about truffles, but this primer actually contains truffle extract to tone and hydrate!]

THE VERDICT
I thought this bag was incredibly fun, and I can definitely see a lot of subscribers happy with their samples. Something I forgot to mention, this month’s bag was actually designed by a young artist Klari Reis, and the pattern is just a small piece of her San Francisco map. You can check more of her art at www.klariart.com

Loved this bag and the super cute bag that it came with. Such good quality of the bag. And the products inside this month were great. Great post. I love seeing what other people got.

    • March 25, 2014 / 4:06 pm

Oh thank goodness someone else here thought the bag itself was cute, after reading the angry comments on Ipsy’s Facebook wall I started wondering if I might have terrible taste 🙂 Glad you also loved the products!

I received some of the same items. I got the other eyeshadow palette, which is gorgeous. I love the colors in your NYX palette. I’m such a sucker for neutrals! Too bad the eyeliner didn’t work!

    • March 25, 2014 / 4:19 pm

Haha, you and me both! I love those shades too, but I already own something very similar. Neutrals are easily giftable, so i’m sure I’ll find someone to give it to 🙂

  3. March 25, 2014 / 8:03 am

I need to get IPSY bags again!

    • March 25, 2014 / 4:23 pm

Haha, well, they can be a hit and a miss 🙂 I swear, we got enough Be a Bombshell and NYX to last a lifetime.

  4. March 25, 2014 / 10:21 am

I liked my bag but that NYX palette and that Chella eyeliner look so nice!

  5. March 25, 2014 / 10:30 am

I got the same bag, and like you, was hoping for the bright eyeshadow palette! Great tip on mixing the primer with foundation for a little glow – I need to try that!

    • March 25, 2014 / 4:24 pm

Glad you found that tip useful, I’m sure you will be happy with the result.

I got the Bora Bora eye palette, the same lipstick, and Pacifica body butter, and nail polish. At first I loved it, but I haven’t figured out how to use the eyeshadow yet (to make it look good while making it go well with my skin tone and eye color), and the body butter kind of smells like play doh. The nail polish I have to get used to, it’s a beautiful color, but it is textured and that’s really weird to me. The lipstick is perfect though. But I love the bag it came it! It’s my favorite actual makeup bag yet.

    • March 25, 2014 / 4:26 pm

That sounds like a great bag! You could use those eyeshadows as an eyeliner, alone or together with the black liner. I tried this trick before when I was first getting into brights, and it looked subtle and fun. Also, i agree, the textured polish definitely takes some getting used to, but it’s so unique 🙂

That’s a great idea!!! I just currently used some great black shadow as liner, and it worked so much better for me than pencil liner. Thanks for the idea 🙂

I got the lipstick and primer in my bag. I was SO happy with mine this month…the past 2 months were sorta meh for me.

    • March 25, 2014 / 4:28 pm

I know the feeling of getting meh bags, but it’s good to know you loved this one 🙂

  8. March 25, 2014 / 2:11 pm

    The Pixi looks really nice

  9. March 25, 2014 / 2:31 pm

    Seems like a great bag!

It’s a good one indeed as long as it’s used properly 🙂

  10. March 25, 2014 / 8:05 pm

My eye went right to that lipstick. I love the neutral-ish color.

    • March 26, 2014 / 9:53 am

I know right? it’s so pretty and totally wearable 🙂

    • March 26, 2014 / 9:54 am

To be honest, not all bags are as nice as this one, but if you want to pay someone $10 to be surprised with a random assortment of makeup, Ipsy is the way to go.

  11. March 26, 2014 / 12:00 am

Awesome bag this month. The chella pen looks awesome, love the color!

    • March 26, 2014 / 9:54 am

It’s a lovely color, too bad the formuls didn’t work out.

    • March 26, 2014 / 9:55 am

They LOVE sending lippies, so if there was one sub I’d recommend for you Kath, it would be Ipsy 🙂

  12. March 26, 2014 / 9:48 am

I got the same bag! The Chella is beautiful but doesn’t work/last well =(

    • March 26, 2014 / 9:55 am

Bag twinsies! 🙂 I was disappointed with Chella as well.

  13. March 26, 2014 / 12:15 pm

I was really impressed with this bag – great value for the $10.

    • April 1, 2014 / 12:53 pm

Agreed, the value was fantastic, even though there were only 4 products 🙂

  14. March 26, 2014 / 12:44 pm

    • April 1, 2014 / 12:53 pm
