Ipsy GlamBag February 2014 – contents
Zoya Nail Polish in Odette
POP Beauty Plump Pout Mini in Peony Petal
PHYTO-C Velvet Gel
City Color Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon
J. Cat Eye Lash in EL05
Benefit Cosmetics High Beam – ipsypoints bonus

Zoya Nail Polish in Odette – Odette happens to be my favorite shade from Zoya’s newest Naturel Collection, the brand describes it as opaque orchid maroon cream, but I just call it mauve with a touch of grape. As always, swatches will be posted separately soon 🙂

POP Beauty Plump Pout Mini in Peony Petal – Love mauve! I really like this color, but I already decided to trade it for Pacifica body butter that I really wanted to receive. I read some reviews online and looks like these glosses have an unpleasant chemical smell, but I guess I won’t be able to find out if it’s true.

City Color Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon – Gorgeous color, awesome pigmentation, and great staying power all for under $3! I think these blushes are a steal, and although they definitely don’t sport any fancy ingredients, it’s a great option for anyone on a budget.

PHYTO-C Velvet Gel – Who else sniffed this serum just to see if it smells like red velvet cupcakes? For some reason I was bummed that it doesn’t, but it’s not like I had any reason to believe that it would. The product description is a bit confusing, but looks like it’s used as a moisturizer and not as a serum, like I previously thought. According to the website, this product moisturizes, softens and nourishes the skin, improves microc-irculation and cell turnover. I’ve been using it for 5 days now and didn’t notice any difference yet =/

J. Cat Eye Lash EL05 – These falsies are very pretty, but I don’t normally wear them on a daily basis, so they’re going to my glam stash. What’s my glam stash? It has all sorts of things I use only for special occasions – cosmetic sequins, glitter, falsies, wigs, press-on nails etc 🙂

[Bonus] Benefit Cosmetics High Beam – This is a bonus product, available for purchase with Ipsypoints. High Beam is one of Benefit’s bestsellers, because it’s a true multi-tasking highlighter. A few dabs on the cheekbones, cupid’s bow, brow bone and nose will make any complexion look fresh and glowy. Need an affordable dupe? Try e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip ($3) or NYX Liquid Illuminator ($7).

THE VERDICT
So what do you think about this month’s Ipsy bag? I’m actually quite impressed with the contents, even though I’m saving the falsies for a special occasion, and trading the lip gloss. I almost used up my current highlighter, so I look forward to trying High Beam as well. What was your favorite product from the February bag?

I don’t know about you, but I really feel like I have more makeup and skincare than clothes. I become really conscious about it right around this time of the year when it finally starts getting warmer, and I suddenly realize I’ll be wearing those same old dresses and t-shirts for 3rd or even 4th year in a row. I take pretty good care of my clothes, so they don’t look shaggy, but I really think I need to finally invest in a new wardrobe. What about you, ladies, how often do you update your wardrobe?

Holy smokes, Zoya and Benefit in this bag?? What a homerun! I’m with you on the wardrobe, I buy beauty products more frequently than clothes. I’d love to get a new Summer wardrobe for sure.

    • February 23, 2014 / 2:44 pm

To be fair, not all bags included benefit, because it’s a bonus item available for purchase with ipsypoints, and I was lucky to have just enough to buy it. But Zoya on the other hand was included in all bags! Subscribers received either Odette or Dot, which are both very lovely shades 🙂

Just a thought, it’s sort of confusing when you add bonus items you got with points into the value of the bag – as not all subscribers would get this item. It makes the bag seem more valuable than it was.

Thak you for your input Krista, you are absolutely right. I corrected the breakdown values 🙂

  3. February 20, 2014 / 11:57 am

I’m waiting and waiting and waiting for my Ipsy bag to arrive! I really hope I get Odette! The Ipsy sub box is probably the best value and my fave subscription right now.

    • February 23, 2014 / 2:45 pm

Fingers crossed you get Odette, it’s such a marvelous color.

  4. February 20, 2014 / 2:04 pm

I got the very same bag! This is my second month with Ipsy, and so far I’m very happy with it.

    • February 23, 2014 / 2:45 pm

Awesome! If I could choose a variation, I don’t think I’d pick this exact one, but I’m very happy with what I got anyway.

Anastasia, you always have such appealing product photographs! Anyway, this month’s glam bag looked so jam packed with goodness!

Me too! These new spring colors are gorgeous 🙂

    • February 23, 2014 / 2:54 pm

Indeed, it’s one of their best bags so far IMO!

  8. February 21, 2014 / 12:15 am

That’s an absolutely amazing bag! I need to sign up. I am in love with the Odette.

    • February 23, 2014 / 2:54 pm

Me too, Justina, me too! Odette was on my wish list ever since the collection came out, I’m so happy I got it 🙂

Hi Sara, thank you for your kind words about my blog 🙂 At this time I’m limiting my international cooperation to BornPrettyStore and Wishtrend, but if I consider expanding in the future, I’ll be sure to email you, if you are still interested then. Thank you, and have a lovely day!

The Zoya and Benefit alone is enough to make me fall out of my chair. I love High Beam. It is one of the best highlighters I’ve ever used.

    • February 23, 2014 / 2:58 pm

So happy you said that! I’m nearly done with my current highlighter, as soon as it’s empty I’ll pop open High Beam right away 😉

  11. February 21, 2014 / 9:03 am

You got a great one! I didn’t know High Beam was a bonus point option – how cool!

    • February 23, 2014 / 2:59 pm

It’s still a bonus point option, as far as I know, so everyone that didn’t get a chance to redeem their points in February, still can get it in March.

  12. February 21, 2014 / 1:21 pm

Wow looks like some really good colors in the mix this month!

    • February 23, 2014 / 3:00 pm

I know right? It’s one of Ipsy’s best bags IMO!

    • February 23, 2014 / 3:01 pm

Good to know you also like High Beam, I was a bit hesitant to open it since I already have my HG highlighter. Awesome bag this month, isn’t it?

  13. February 23, 2014 / 2:52 pm

I definitely have more makeup and skincare than clothes! I love clothes as well but prefer spending my money on beauty loot.

    • February 23, 2014 / 3:03 pm

Glad it’s not just me 🙂 I really need to try and not buy so much beauty stuff, and instead invest in upgrading my wardrobe, or at least the key pieces.

  14. February 24, 2014 / 9:12 pm

I definitely have more beauty/makeup items than clothes! Clothes are great, but they tend to be more expensive than beauty products, at least for me. I never update my wardrobe, really. I just buy a few new pieces here and there, and I never get rid of anything. I really should clean out my closet and donate some things… I’m also desperately low on nice shoes.

    • February 27, 2014 / 11:00 pm

I know right? Whenever it’s a choice between a pair of jeans and 2-3 new lipsticks, I always tend to favor the lipsticks =/

  15. March 18, 2014 / 2:10 am

I love ipsy! For the March 2014 Glam Bag I received the bareminerals lipstick, the bora bora eyeshadow quad, the chella blue eye liner, and the vita liberata luxury tan. I absolutely love getting new makeup every month! The website itself is a lot of fun, and so is following ipsy on Facebook, there is a strong sense of community with other women that are also interested in makeup.
Join me on ipsy and subscribe to the Glam Bag! You get 4-5 beauty products every month delivered to your door, for just $10. Check it out here: http://www.ipsy.com/r/73vu
