Ipsy Glam Bag Plus April 2021 Unboxing & Review
To celebrate Earth Month this year, Ipsy curators lovingly named the April bag, “Force of Nature.” This month, our Glam Bags are showcasing products that can help enhance your natural beauty with a major focus on more natural and sustainable brands. There are still some conventional products sprinkled in here and there, but you will definitely be getting some new eco-friendly goodies to try. Here’s what I received in my Plus bag this month!
HOW IT WORKS:
Each month you will receive a new drawstring pouch filled with a mix of 5 full-sized beauty products customized according to your beauty profile. Ipsy Glam Bag Plus members can watch videos and play along with the stylists, all for only $25/month ($120+ value). Click here to check it out.
IN THE BAG:
1 // theBalm Cosmetics theBalm and the Beautiful Eyeshadow Palette in Episode 1 ($36) – Can’t say enough good things about theBalm, and I feel like the brand flew a little under the radar in the recent years. I’ve always enjoyed their makeup; whether it’s highlighters, blushes, eyeshadows, mascara, or concealer – they were all really good. The vintage-inspired packaging aesthetic is an acquired taste, but I don’t really mind it – the product inside is what counts. Now, this palette is simply gorgeous! It’s definitely designed for someone who loves their brown, beige, mauve, and cream shades. That’s me, I’m that person. Earthy, natural tones and easily recyclable packaging make this palette a great Earth Month pick! 5/5
2 // RMS Beauty Living Luminizer ($38) – I can’t think of a more iconic botanical highlighter than this one. This brand and shade have a cult following in the clean beauty community, and I’m really excited to try it! As you might know, I no longer subscribe to “clean beauty” marketing for various reasons, but that doesn’t mean I stopped loving botanical makeup and skincare products. This cream highlighter is honestly great and it gives the skin that healthy, dewy glow that almost looks damp. 5/5
3 // The Nue Co The Pill All-In-1 Serum ($85) – This serum is tiny but mighty, with a highly potent brightening and smoothing formula that marries the best of science and nature. I am honestly very impressed with how many skin-loving ingredients The Nue Co managed to pack in this guy: Glycolic, Lactic, and Hyaluronic acids, brightening Licorice root, Vitamin C-rich citrus extracts, de-puffing caffeine, botanical ferments, and even my favorite Centella Asiatica! 5/5
4 // Item Beauty Lite Sauce Balancing Gel Moisturizer ($20) – Very light moisturizer with smooth and pleasant texture, I can see how it would work wonders for someone younger with oily or combination skin. Founded by the famous TikToker Addison Rae, Item Beauty products are formulated for her fellow Gen Zs to be fun, uncomplicated, and easy-to-use. 5/5
5 // Cocokind Oil to Milk Cleanser ($18) – Coconut oil cleansing is nothing new, but it’s one of those ingredients that some people swear by while others experience increased oiliness and breakouts from. I’m leaning more toward the latter for leave-on products, but I don’t mind coconut-based cleansers as long as they wash off cleanly. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case with this cleanser. The formula is rich and very balmy, and has a soothing herbal fragrance. This rich consistency would work best for someone with dry skin because it doesn’t fully wash off and leaves a thin moisturizing layer on top. As someone with combo skin, I have to wash my face a few more times with a foaming product to rinse off the residue, and that’s just not ideal. Moral of the story: always use products designed for your skin type for best results. 4/5 (docked 1 star because it doesn’t remove eye makeup well)
BOTTOM LINE:
Honestly, this was a very fun bag with lots of great products! I even like the print on the pouch itself and plan to use it in the summer to carry sunscreen and other goodies in my beach bag. My three favorites this month were the RMS highlighter, theBalm palette, and The Nue serum, but even the other two weren’t bad at all – they just didn’t work for my skin’s needs. Fantastic month for Ipsy, I wish more bags were like this one!
