Ipsy Glam Bag November 2020 Unboxing & Review – Be Present
What’s the best subscription box? Easy – it’s the one you always look forward to receiving! With that said, I was unusually excited about my November Ipsy bag after I saw a few spoilers on IG. My Open Studios box is finally here so let’s take a look at some of the goodies that will be included in Ipsy bags this month, themed around self-care and being present!
HOW IT WORKS:
Each month as an Ipsy subscriber you will receive a new Glam Bag with a mix of 5 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products customized according to your beauty profile. Members can watch videos and play along with the stylists, all for only $12/month ($50+ value). Click here to check it out.
1 // Eyeko Rock Out and Lash Out Mascara in Carbon Black ($26 – $6.50 value) – This mascara comes with a nice, bushy hourglass-shaped wand that grabs onto every tiny hair and gives the lashes a nice lift plus added volume at the base. This is my favorite type of wand! It’s similar to two of my all-time favorites – Too Faced Better Than Sex and L’Oreal Lash Paradise – and also looks similar on the lashes. Because it’s still fresh, the mascara gel is still a bit runny, but once it thickens after a few uses, it can make my lashes look even more dramatic. Long story short: I’m a fan! 5/5
2 // TATCHA The Deep Cleanse ($38 – $6.33 value) – I bought The Deep Cleanse with my Sephora points before and I don’t mind having another small bottle because I wanted to give this cleanser another try. I really like the fresh herbal scent and gentle foam, but not a huge fan of the coarse exfoliating bits. There aren’t a lot of them so it doesn’t really feel like a scrub, but they’re there and they feel a little scratchy on the skin. After trying it again, I’ll stick with my original assessment of 3/5.
3 // Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream ($39 – $7.80 value) – I really wanted to try this moisturizer so I’m stoked to get it in my Ipsy bag! It just came out recently so I’ve been seeing it all over my Instagram. I like the smell of bananas and I thought it would be similar to the banana products from Tonymoly – and, in a way, it was. The banana scent is more like banana custard – smells more like a dessert than a fruit, if that makes sense. The fragrance is very faint and fades right away, even before the cream hits my face. Looking at the formula, this is a fairly decent basic daily moisturizer with ingredients like Centella Asiatica, magnesium, and Aloe Vera that are known to be very soothing. It will work best for those with dry and dehydrated skin to address dehydration and redness but it may be too rich if your skin is very oily. 4/5
MOTD Cosmetics A Perfect 10 Tapered Face Brush looks like it’s very well-made. The bristles were aligned perfectly.
4 // MOTD Cosmetics A Perfect 10 Tapered Face Brush ($22) – This brush was a welcome surprise! I thought it was well-made, and all hairs were perfectly shaped and aligned. The handle has some heft to it and the ferrule is set very securely – sometimes it can be a little loose on low-quality brushes, which drives me crazy, lol. This domed, dense brush will work wonders for blush, bronzer, and setting powder. 5/5
Anastasia Beverly Hills glosses have a nice fluffy wand.
Moon Jelly swatched in daylight.
Moon Jelly out of focus to showcase the glitters better. So pretty!
5 // Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss Mini in Moon Jelly ($16 – $7.11 value) – I haven’t been wearing lip gloss much these days because it makes a huge mess under masks, although I sometimes put some on at home just to feel pretty. With that said, this is a beautiful lip gloss and a really nice formula. It’s a little thick, which makes it last longer on the lips, and the shimmers stay even after the gloss has faded. This color has very pretty lilac and blue shimmers that look like little stars in the sun. I tried to capture it with a blurry photo!
THE VERDICT:
Obsessed with my Ipsy bag this month, even though it wasn’t as high value as the last one. I really enjoyed trying the new Glow Recipe banana moisturizer, and it was nice to be able to add a new high-quality makeup brush to my collection because I can be pretty picky. The mascara is fabulous and I will be adding it to my list of products to re-purchase. The lip gloss has a great formula and makes me want to explore more shades from ABH, maybe something more mauve/pink for everyday wear. Surprisingly, TATCHA cleanser was the product I liked the least. I guess I’m just not a fan of random abrasive specks in my skincare, even though I was using physical exfoliants pretty often in the past. Since starting tretinoin my skin has become a little more sensitive and much easier to irritate, so I’ve been avoiding anything scratchy.
The value of my Ipsy November 2020 Glam bag: $49.74
