IN THE BAG:

1 // 111SKIN Nocturnal Eclipse Recovery Cream ($218 – $84 value) – 111SKIN is a high end skincare brand so I was especially curious to try out this moisturizer. It felt very rich and emollient, and it’s definitely designed for people with dry skin. I have a few dry patches around my nose and on my chin from retinoid use, and this cream helped soften and smooth those spots overnight. Great product but unfortunately out of my budget right now. 5/5

2 // VERSO Facial Cleanser ($40 – $11.11 value) – This botanical-based cleanser was designed with dry and fragile skin in mind, but I think it will also work for someone with a compromised skin barrier thanks to the super gentle formula. It doesn’t have strong surfactants so I wouldn’t recommend it for makeup removal, but it will work just fine as your morning or second step cleanser. 4/5

3 // TheBalm Cosmetics Lid-Quid Sparkling Liquid Eyeshadow in Bellini ($14 – $4.66 value) – I’ve seen these liquid eyeshadows around and always wanted to try them. Happy to report that the formula is amazing! They go on very smooth and you have plenty of time to blend out the edges before the creamy base sets. This shade was very pigmented and had beautiful flecks of glitter that can look almost metallic depending on the light. This eyeshadow wore like iron on my oily lids – no creases or color fading all day, and that’s what I like to see from my cream eyeshadows. An all-around outstanding performance! 5/5

4 // Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask ($42 – $14 value) – I tried this eye mask in the past and it didn’t impress me much. This mask [really, an eye cream] felt too rich on my skin and something in the formula was clogging my pores so I discontinued use. Luckily, Ipsy sent a very small sample so I didn’t feel bad about throwing it away. 1/5

5 // Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek in Werk ($18) – Werk looks patchy on the lips, but on the skin it’s a different story. This natural tint gives my cheeks a flushed, slightly dewy effect with color that is realistically achievable by the human body, so if you’re into makeup that actually looks like you’re not wearing any, this shade is 100% worth a try. Since it’s kind of sheer, I feel like this formula will work best on fair and light complexions but I could be wrong. 5/5

BOTTOM LINE:

Aside from the Glow Recipe eye mask, I loved every product in my August 2021 Ipsy Glam Bag. I’m especially impressed with the performance of TheBlam Lid-Quid eyeshadow, which turned out to be my favorite sample this month. The blush stick from Milk Makeup was the front runner originally, but since it doesn’t work well on the lips, I had to give it silver for now. This bag was also skincare-heavy, which is my favorite beauty category [as you know], so I’m more than satisfied with the selection!

The value of my Ipsy August 2021 Glam bag: $159.77
